Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Local paper says first R2 deliveries expected to start in June.

I wonder when non-reservation holders can play around with configurations

Have they even gone out to reservation holders?
I have a reservation and they haven’t gone out to us. According to things I’ve read somewhere, current owners of an R1 get preferred access to the R2. I don’t expect we’ll get the option to convert our reservation to a purchase until much later in the year. And I don’t expect to purchase the R2; it’s just not quite what I think we want in our next vehicle and we have to save up for longer.

Yeah I put down for a reservation the day I saw it at the San Jose reveal back in...checks internet...wow, April of 2024. The lease on our ID.4 comes up in February of next year and while it's still top of list, I'm seeing cracks forming in that decision since needs, budgets, competitors both on the new and used market (thanks to heavy EV depreciation), are changing.

100% same here. I'm keeping my reservation until the point of no return and then probably canceling it.

Rivian backs ballot measure to expand direct-to-consumer EV sales in Washington
This dropped my share position. Burning cash like this is crazy they are lucky to see next year. Hopefully this helps them in the long run.

Rivian backs ballot measure to expand direct-to-consumer EV sales in Washington

"Efforts to expand direct-to-consumer sales in Washington have repeatedly stalled in the legislature... State Rep. Amy Walen, who chaired the committee where the bill stalled, has faced criticism for her outside interests as a car dealership owner."

Interesting how people keep getting what they voted for.

Okay I think it looks like a truck. What do you all think?

I've seen other reporting that they intend for this to be a 3 row SUV. If so, I may have to look hard at it vs. the Scout based on timing. Although I've never been thrilled with Toyota's EV design aesthetic. Just make an EV Land Cruiser exactly as-is (I know it's not that simple...aerodynamics and all that) and they'd have me.

Business wise that’s the best move. There’s more reservations for it. Start with what the market wants and then introduce BEV. Why start with the small market. When you can attack the bigger market first.

We have said publicly that we have more reservations for EREV than we do for BEV. That said, the final production sequence still needs to be nailed down before we make any official announcements on rollout timing. As most of you know, we started development of our BEV first. EREV is no small project, given the additional complexity, additional parts and software involved. Meaning? Development is still moving, so while we work to go to market, timing will be everything. Obviously, if we have a strong reservation response to EREV, we want to try and offer that sooner than later. But BEV will still be offered as well. More details will come as we get closer to market launch.

Thanks Jamie for the quick response!

So, is the article wrong or not official? Either way, it’s good to see Scout on the road sooner than later. I’ll keep holding out for the Traveler Electrall for me and and get the Terra Harvester for business a little sooner.
