Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Hello- I just wanted to come in here and thank you for the shout out. I truly love my job and this community has been essential in the decisions the CMF team makes. I don't often comment on here but please know that I am regularly in here reading the forum members comments, specially regarding Colors and Materials. So keep them coming!

Please know that I take into account the feedback from you all in my daily decisions trying to make it worthy of the Scout name and this community, so your support and acknowledgement for our work means a lot!

No ha! 😹 thats my messenger bag and I love it. Company is called timbuk2 and they make their bags out of recycled materials.

This is amazing news. I'm very familiar with gov't contract vehicles like Sourcewell along with others like NASPO ValuePoint, GSA, etc. They play a huge role in procurement for SLED customers because they eliminate the expensive and time intensive RFP process since a competitive price is already negotiated, and the deal falls under standard T&C's on the contract. Makes it very easy for them to buy.

Anyway, looking at Rivian's contract and pricing sheet to see what tidbits we can learn..
  • Signed in November so they clearly wanted to wait till after the holidays for the PR. Also contract runs 4 years which of course will include R2 purchases.
  • 2% discount off MSRP, additional discount considered when you order 10+
  • Allows for Rivian to do the upfitting (light bars, push bars, utility beds..etc.) but also lists 3rd party companies as official partners (Bush Specialty, EV Sportline, Holman, LEGEND, Ranger, and Sortimo).
  • Rivian has a sales force of 15 FTE's dedicated to fleet sales (I didn't know that, thought it was interesting). As of 8.1.25 only .5% of sales were fleet however they expected to end the year at 1.5%.
  • Service : By the end of 2026, they will have 130+ brick and mortar service centers and will be within 60mi of 89% of the population of the United States.
    • mobile service fleet is 650+ vehicles
    • Total service org is 3,750 people
  • Have sold 35K vans to Amazon thus far
Tons more stuff but I don't have the time to read through it all, check it out yourself tho...those underlined words above are links.

Very cool. Learned something else new today

My “algorithm” is 32 years of public service science, technology, and engineering research, development, and education with experience on both sides of the funding profile. I don’t know you, you don’t know me, and it’s clear that “debating" you isn’t worth the time I’ve already spent responding to you.

Goodbye.
Congratulations. That still doesn't make what you said correct.
