Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

    Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

    So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I remember our second house I wanted slate like the model. New house so the design center said oh that’s natural so expensive $10 a sf. This was in 1998 mind you. I said I can buy that tile for $1 a sf at Home Depot. Had them put the free linoleum in and had it done myself. It’s a racket.
It’s the way new homes work. I see it everyday with my role. I don’t like it that way but I get it and have accepted it. Houses, like cars are now commodities so you strip them down as low as reasonably possible then use upgrades as profit centers. I literally just processed a change telling a buyer they couldn’t put carpet in their kitchen-GROSS!!!! All to try and save a few bucks. That was a career first 🤣

So two years ago Rivian sent reservation holders a survey on what configuration they'd most likely buy. Below were the options and given RJ said Launch Edition will be top of the bell curve of what people will order, likely in part due to survey results, and that we're expecting Launch Edition to be dual motor, I've highlighted what I think it'll be...
  • Tri-motor AWD, 300 miles of range, $65-69k, 0-60 in 2.5 seconds;
  • Tri-motor AWD, 325 miles of range, $57-61k, 0-60 in 4.5 seconds;
  • Dual-motor AWD, 250 miles of range, $65-69k, 0-60 in 3.5 seconds;
  • Dual-motor AWD, 350 miles of range, $53-57k, 0-60 in 3.5 seconds;
  • Single-motor RWD, 250 miles of range, $57-61k, 0-60 in 5.5 seconds;
  • Single-motor RWD, 350 miles of range, $57-61k, 0-60 in 7.5 seconds;
  • Single-motor RWD, 335 miles of range, $49-53k, 0-60 in 6.5 seconds;

Yes. When my wife went down to Florida to purchase our home she sat down with the designer, selected the home design we had already discussed and he gave her a price that was in a range. She said why is the range so large? He then pulled out the design book that was about 10 inches thick and said, now we need to pick out the hardware. My wife and he spent hours picking out everything it takes to have a completed house. From doors & door hardware, kitchen cabinets & hardware, flooring, lighting, crown molding & coffered ceiling, pool, spa; and on and on and on. The good thing was when it was all said and done it came in on budget, and she got exactly what she wanted. But man, what a process.

Yeah. Our system is all online and is an inhouse proprietary system that is mind blowing what all it can do. But again-cars and houses are the same

Agree 100%. Sales people for cars and homes are VERY predatory. Prior company I worked for a number of years ago saw new home sales agents MAXING people to their limits. It seriously ate at my conscience. Their mindset was they can eat PBJ for next 20 years so long as they got their commissions. If I haven’t mentioned-I HATE sales commissions-brings out the worst in people.
Does this include realtors? Around here, there's a special level of hell reserved for realtors. They make organized crime look like clean, wholesome work by comparison.

My friend worked at a ford dealer for less than a day because he couldn’t be, in his words, “that immoral”. He was told he would have to up charge everything especially used by $8-20k
