TFL dumping on Scout in there latest video

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
No one knows about the actual dates, prices, etc. Probably not even Scout at this point. One thing that is true though is if there are significant delays, price increases, or feature reduction, then it could spell trouble for Scout.
Respectfully disagree, why wouldn’t they have a price in mind and a date. You can’t set accurate deadlines if you don’t have an end date in mind and you can’t effectively order parts and design something if you don’t have a price in mind.

Now could there be an unforeseen delay, sure. There always can, but like I have said before and I’ll say it again. I am 100% sure if SM could sell us all vehicles tomorrow they would. They will start selling just as soon as they can.

As for cost they continue to be consistent. Starting price around $60. We heard that at launch, I heard that at the presentation at Nats in June of 2025 and I heard that same number in Chicago in December of 2025. They saw what has happened to other brands that have raised prices above expectations. It’s never good.

Faith and patience.

Losing the federal tax credits definitely hurt Scout, like many others, so I suspect they're doing everything they can to keep pricing in line with expectations. Luckily, battery prices continue to fall in the meantime, so that's helpful at least.

You can choose to believe that, or you can believe what Scout has told us:

Technically I thought they were still saying under $60K. Did I miss something?

Ok, I'll bite.

What pieces are they more right about?
Here are a few quotes/statements from the TFL episode:

“The Scout Terra and the Traveler SUV are beautifully designed.”

“They’re bringing back a storied brand name, the Scout brand.”

“It got a lotta people super excited” just like the reveal of the ID Buzz.

TFL has a reservation for a Scout.

Sales probably won’t begin until 2028.

“Most people want the Harvester.” “The range extender is what everybody wants.”Scout said they would tow up to 10,000 pounds. The vehicle must support 10% of that weight on the tongue. The Harvester’s rear engine will probably cut down on how much you can tow.

This is a lifestyle truck so the reduced towing may not matter.

Another cloud on Scout is the lawsuits by dealers about the Scout direct sales.

“I love the look of this thing and can’t wait to get one.”

Another “cloud” is that orders won’t be fulfilled until 2028.

The CO said that up to 4 rounds of protypes will be done to get things right.

“Time to market is a huge deal.”

Price is an issue. They talk about others car companies that promised a lower price and did not deliver. They express concern about the $60,000 price for a Scout.

They discuss the issues with VW and the ID Buzz.

They discuss the value of a range-extended Scout with the price of gas.

They express hope for Scout and talk about how they have been responsive to the customers.

They talk about the value of Scout’s investments in their factory and jobs for the region.

“I wish the best for them.”

They talk about how the Chinese can crank out a new model on 2 years versus the usual 4 years here. They talk about the challenges to bring a new vehicle to market.

That's a pretty fair summary of what they said.

Crystal balls are always fuzzy. But it is important to note the why's and who benefits. Many people waiting for Scouts are avoiding purchasing another vehicle in the meantime. So saying the Scout will be delayed has the potential to cause reservation holders to give up and become clients for virtually every other car company. There is NO reason for other car companies not to want to push this narrative.

Meanwhile, the reverse holds true for Scout. Even if they absolutely know that they will not be delivering on schedule - announcing that will only cause them to loose reservations. Tell the reservation holder 6 years - how many will want to wait. Tell them 2 years, then 2 more years, then 2 more years - some will just keep waiting. There is no benefit at this point for Scout to announce a delay. 2 more years is only 2 more years... Tesla and the Cybertruck proved that marketing plan.

And actually the wording at Nats was, “$20,000 less than our competitors”.
Competitors? Rivian R1 and R2, CyberAppliance, Jeep, Bronco Raptor(Im guessing performance figures will be close to Raptor and features for launch addition will probably offer more offroad packages then a base Scout).

So yeah that makes Enough Sense

My biggest concerns for Scout are:

1) the concept vehicles are fantastic, but its hard to keep up the hype for several years. Especially while other new vehicles will be revealed and most likely be released in a shorter time frame than Scout (albeit, most other manufacturers already have plants/factories to utilize)

2) This feels too good to be true. All that tech, All that capability, All that amazing design, ............ALL for under $60K. The truck market/pricing is friggen dumb right now, and if Scout were to launch at those prices, they will blow others away. So my fear here is something like what we witnessed with the Cybertruck..... reveal at $49,999..... lose roll down rear window, tailgate ramp, 5% in overall size, tonneau cover not waterproof, less range, etc..... launch at $79,999.

Speculating delivery in 2030 and saying Scout going to go down the same path as the ID Buzz. Delays will cause failure and excitement will go down. Let’s hope not.
Interesting observation
yes my buzz is gone, to much bs and g-d for bid you sit in the truck......they do not have their shit together and the delays will cost in the end....mentioned many times come out with a ICE as well and things may buzz up again for sure....Hope for the best....ICE ICE BABY!!!
