Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

I would probably order with the spare tire carrier and then remove it, install the tire underneath where it belongs, and run bare most of the time. When I did have the carrier on, it would likely carry the backpack instead of the tire. I don’t like that much weight hanging off the vehicle that far aft of and above the rear axle. If I were going onto some of my favorite trails where tires can get destroyed, I would consider putting a second spare on the tire carrier.

I was wondering if they'd offer the option of an undermount spare, but I suppose that would depend on the tire size package. IDK, but I think any tire package with 35s or 37s would be a challenge fitting a spare as an undermount, with those tire sizes the only option for a full sized spare may be the swing out.

There are a few threads that talk about this... I think the Terra will offer under-mount and the Traveler will be the rear-mount with an option of interior storage...

The best person to follow to get answers for questions like that is @Jamie@ScoutMotors. He will answer our questions when he can and he also lets us know when they will be on display. I have seen the Traveler in person twice and the Terra once. When then come within driving distance I highly recommend going.

Jamie stated that 37s will not be offered from factory. And that you will be able to order with a tire carrier or without but hasn’t stated where the spare will be if you order it without.

Perhaps a stupid question. I recall the rear tire carrier is an option on the Traveler. What is the spare tire option without it?

At reveal it was mentioned to be under the vehicle as a drop down. But nothing was elaborated on.

I don’t recall seeing that either. Folks have suggested it but nothing official that I can remember
