  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

    We are Scout Motors.
When you walk up on the front of the Scout it just looks really wide because the hood is so wide.

For example my jeep has a lot of elevation changes. It has the power dome hood so that sticks up higher in the middle, then the sides of the hood are lower, and then the fender flares is lower and then I have a -12 offset so my tires stick out past the fender. I had a feeling my Wrangler was wider than I thought so I put a piece of tape at the edge of each tire and backed out and measured. My Jeep is 78.5 inches wide at its widest point. So only 1.5 inches smaller in width than the Scout but it looks a lot skinnier because the hood isn’t as wide as the widest point. If that makes sense.

When you walk up to the front of the Traveler I felt like I was walking up to the front of a full size truck because it’s wide like a truck. It looks the same as the Terra. But when you go around the side it’s 4Runner size in length without the tire, so it feels like a normal SUV.

I hope that makes sense.


It does! From pictures when shown from an angle it always looks "standard" to me so understanding the actual scale has always been challenging. I also see tons of Broncos around here so daydream about it a lot lol.

- 207.9 inch length (with rear mounted spare tire / carrier)
- 190.9 inch length (without spare tire / carrier)

Bronco 4-Door
- 189.4 inch length (with rear mounted spare tire / carrier)
- 86.2 inch width (with mirrors)
- 75.9 inch width (without mirrors
- 116.1 inch wheelbase

1.5" longer (without spare tire carrier)
3.5" wider (without mirrors)
4.3" more wheelbase.

I don't know how width is technically measured. I suspect it is body width - which would exclude fender flares or wheel spacing (The Sasquatch has about 5" fender flares). Still the Scout has less shoulders than the Bronco, so should have more interior room - even if it takes less space in the lane than the Sasquatch.

Seems I’m already driving a Scout sized vehicle!
 
Looking forward to being able to play with a configurator & see how much damage I can do right off the bat (cause I did a lot with the R1S - lol). And then of course compare to Scout when that's available.
Me too. I’m dying to know how the Scout is going to work. Is it like Rivian where the trim comes with whatever and there aren’t many options to add or like BMW where it’s infinite options and packages.

We need a BMW type configurator but make it have less packages. Because you add one thing it adds ten.

The “war on buttons” approach is a huge turn off for me.
100000% agree.

I love most of the rest of it , and rivians in general (although, not the "they're super expensive to repair" bit).

Funny enough, the one review I've read so far, was about how the haptic scroll wheels didn't work for the reviewer as of their first experience with them (I think it was Insideevs? Maybe it was Electreks?).

I agree about the war on buttons, but this seems to be the best compromise since you can change climate control settings via the haptic scroll wheels instead of using a screen. So there are actually more control Via "buttons" with that new steering wheel than there were previously.
 
The wrap that Rivian put on this R2 Reminds me of the Scout Sport Star Trim.

Deep down, RJ wants to do kisses with Scouts. I firmly believe this. I want to meet him someday and ask him what food trucks he got lunch from when he was a grad student and found out if we ever got food poisoning from the same ones. He was there when I was there.
 
I'm not sure everyone realizes that the scroll wheels on the R2 steering wheel, are also "BUTTONS"... And those 2 buttons work for almost all the buttons and functions that you would most commonly use (as you scroll the wheel). You can simply scroll and press the scroll wheel - just like a regular old button.

This is an interesting implementation because it caters to an entirely new / younger buyer segment that grew up with things like haptics on remote controllers for video games and scroll/click wheels on a computer mouse or a touch pad, for example. Its sorta brilliant actually.

If you have no idea what the hell I am talking about, watch this video and start at the 9:25 minute mark:

If you have two hands on the wheel and can scroll and click through menus right in front of your face, you've got a pretty intuitive and streamlined interface for users, AND you still get the 2 physical stalks with all of those standard controls.

I would liken it to flying a B2 bomber with this interface:
