Forcasts are all to often alarmist, but as of today, 80+% chance of rain this weekend (we really need it, no rain in well over a month, and then almost 3 months before that) - and a low in the teens. They think that mythical white stuff might fall in Texas. Mythical white stuff is far more rare than hail or sleet - and last 2 times we got those were were without electricity for 1/2 a week each time (well mostly without, I am so far south our electricity was fine, but load sharing meant ours was shipped north and we got 15 minutes every 4hrs.
At least in theory, new house (should have subfloor laid before this hits) should have a really nice fireplace (high efficiency, reburning chamber, with high mass to release heat slowly after a fast clean fire). Need to call and see how that is coming. 1000% overkill in Texas - but I hate cold days without electricity.
