One Giant Leap Into the World of EV Ownership

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
When it does freeze I’m guessing for a day at most-is that correct? Just thinking Charl ston probably rarely sees that
We get more what I’d call frost than freeze. Icy puddles that thaw throughout the morning. Usually once per year we get a few days that hover around freezing for at least 24 hours. But, to your point, not very much.

I’d still like to retire to Charleston. One of my favorite cities. I’ve visited several times. Also like Beaufort. Glad to know it still gets cold there on occasion. That’s why I asked. I couldn’t go where is only one or two seasons but from experience of family I know the blood also “thins” as they say and you adjust to the warm weather

You definitely adjust. It was 35 here the other day with no wind and sunny and my son and I both said oh the weather is better and we were in sweatshirts. If we were still living in California I would be saying it was feeezing and bundled up.

Same here. I’ve snow blowed in shorts before when 35. It’s all perspective

I'll do a one month write-up next week but so far the car has been solid. The transition to a full EV has been relatively painless. Concerns regarding range have basically vanished, never once have we had to use a fast charger during normal day-to-day activities.
I love these real world right-ups. They Just reinforces my conviction staying with an EV Traveler. Thanks for the post.

Keeps me believing I’m going BEV (unless they substantially delay the BEV) but I just don’t see it happening when they said line can run both at same time

The charging cover came in last week. We’ve been using it for about a week now. It’s not quite on perfectly but it gives everyone an idea on how it’s supposed to look. Covers the door and the entire charging port. Quick release Velcro makes taking it off a very quick process.

While this solution will work, an OEM solution would be much preferred. Hopefully winter weather testing will provide the needed experience to ensure an OEM implemented solution is available at launch.

Should note that BEVs are HEAVY and I'll be adding additional 2A (crush-n-run) to the parking area, tomorrow, as we are starting to make ruts now...

Okay is this because you need to charge outside at home? Would you use this charging out on the road?

Man that thing is butt ugly. But, it looks like it will get the job done, and fold up pretty compact.

5 tons of 2A gravel later and several passes with a plate compactor, the driveway has been extended and fortified for this heavy EV… I spread it out by hand first and I found I’m not in the shape I used to be…

I will say when we got the Equinox cleaned up yesterday people were stopping us to ask about it. People really are interested in electric vehicles… Folks were commenting on how cool it looked. When a vehicle has a presence people will be drawn to it whether it’s EV or not. Scout’s have a presence and they’ll draw people in for sure.

I love that color. And with no malice intended, if it didn’t say Chevy I’d buy one. Too many issues in my Chevy history so no chance but your EV strictly from a design point is probably right behind the Traveler and the Ioniq5
