The reddit FUD cycle in full effect... Puh-lease.
This is pretty interesting. That just added to my fears of full electric! Thank God For Harvester!![]()
Ehh I wouldn't be too concerned. Think of the millions of charges that happen every day without incident. Doesn't mean failure rate is 0%, but does mean the odds are exceedingly low kind of like dying in a plane crash. Doesn't mean people don't die in plane crashes because they do, but does mean the odds are in your favor.

Im not afraid of gas like some people might be.OK...I get it. Stuff happens. But this incident won't change me back to the Harvester. Gasoline counterpoint...
You can toss a lit cigarette into a bucket of gasoline and it will go out, but the vapors that are stirred up when you refuel are whats dangerous.Im not afraid of gas like some people might be.

It doesnt even have to be something you do wrong. An idiot in the stall next to you can light a cigarette in their car and give everyone a bad day.

In the Reddit post, I think the charger is rivian, not the vehicle. Not sure what vehicle it is, but might be an older one without fast charging, or even a phev.Ok, I'm actually a little bit confused about this.

New Rivian Quads just launched with NACS ports.Ok, I'm actually a little bit confused about this.
So, this is a J1772 connector. Which is the Level 2 AC charger standard.

This was built into the DC fast charging standard called the Combined Charging Standard 1 (CCS1), which has plugs that look like this. You can clearly see how the J1772 plug was added up on top, while the DC fast charging ports are the two big ones on the bottom.

What I can't figure out, is why the vehicle side in the reddit post... only has a J1772 connector. I thought Rivians used CCS1 connectors. Like this.

Or, I guess its just about the L2 charger itself?
Also, the Scouts will use the NACS port, which is different looking than either of the above. Not that it really matters in this context though.

Right or wrong, I put a little dielectric grease on my charge port. I guess that may help prevent this from happening.

Not a fan of I always thought making the drivers full seat different from the others would be cool if it was all complimentary but this looks like someone installed the wrong seat in one of the positions. Like maybe the scout seats are all same but drivers seat gets a cool plaid inset panel on the vertical cushion just to set it apart but would have to be done really well. Or maybe driver head rest gets the orange scout logo so it aligns with the one on front-you know-to the right side like a signatureI don’t know how I feel about this. This new fire and ice VW the interior the drivers seat has red trim and the passenger seat it’s blue. Definitely different.

It could be a helpful cue to remind me whether I’m driving or just passenging. Smart move IMO. I was very liberal with that stuff as a mechanic and still am on all my personal stuff too. Could not recommend enough.Right or wrong, I put a little dielectric grease on my charge port. I guess that may help prevent this from happening.
Oh I like that idea with the Scout logo on the drivers head rest. Not a fan of I always thought making the drivers full seat different from the others would be cool if it was all complimentary but this looks like someone installed the wrong seat in one of the positions.
