What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. I love HUDs but I hate that they usually come with a bunch of lux package junk. It’s not necessary to me, but if it integrates with Google maps for directions I’d be thrilled.

I’d be happy with a “Highway Warrior” package of ACC, lane centering, and a HUD for a couple grand. Or, you know, do what HYUNDAI of all brands do and just include the ACC and lane centering on every trim.

Having a HUD is a huge + in my opinion. Anything that keeps my eyes on the road is super helpful. I was recently driving the new GMC Yukon Denali and having to glace down at its massive vertical screen for directions was so annoying. Having the HUD having a limited and "barebones" direction visible was incredibly helpful when navigating highways.

A HUD with physical knobs for climate control and volume etc? That could be a game changer, would never take my eyes off of the road.
I’d take audio/voice control for both of those as they are simple commands

I like mine in my Audi Q5 PHEV and A5 Cab.
It launches me into a motion sickness. That’s why. And they suck in general, one it makes the human lazy. If you can look down for a split second to get directions and speed, that’s lazy. Think about your parents that used to have a paper map on their laps driving.

Those lazy fighter pilots with their HUDs, taking attention off their flying.

Seriously, I get where you’re coming from with motion sickness, but with todays drivers and distractions I fully support anything that keeps idiot eyes pointed at the road instead of in the cab.

Unfortunately I don't think a HUD is going to fix the "keeps idiot eyes pointed at the road instead of the cab" we need something like the vehicle goes into some kind of limp mode to get their attention when they look away to long. Maybe not a good solution either but you get my point.

All I can remember about my parents and using a paper map is all of the times I was late to soccer games for no reason other then they missed an exit because they had to drive and not look down lol

When I was young our parents would throw us all in the back of the station wagon, remember those; and over the years we traveled to all of the lower 48. Any time one of use would ask if we were lost my father would say "No" it part of the adventure. And maps, my mother had a file box in the front seat full of them. Good times.

All the times in the car of LEO LOOK OUT right before my dad nearly rear ended someone and then got super defensive about it or argued with my mom when the HUD navigation prompt in his line of sight could have solved it (or he could have ignored it completely as he often did because my dad insisted that his knowledge of local roads was better than the on-board GPS, which it was in terms of practical local knowledge like “this area has a lot of college students that behave like they have never encountered a car before and are oblivious of their capacity to do damage to the human body” and whatnot). The couple of seconds your eyes drift down to check speed or something not in your line of sight is all the time it takes to hit something (driver’s ed made a big deal of that). I am better for the HUD in my car telling me the speed and when to turn.

Now if the navigation programs become as reliable as a HUD that would be great. I use both built in and Apple navigation and they both have interesting error modes now and then.

As much as I love my Iphone....God can Apple Maps SUCK sometimes. I recently switched back to a "Google-based" system (Waze was bought in 2013 by Google). And it is so much better at turn-by-turn work.

However for offline maps I still use OnX and Google Maps

I use Waze for long road trips, but have only ever used OnX Offroad (or forest service/logging roads).

How do you like OnX for everyday navigation?

From what ive noticed on what everyone has been saying about them, is the exact safety concerns that are circulating around HUDs. People are too focused on the HUD and not the road so yet again being lazy. Learn your Vehicle, understand your speed by feeling. Learn your area. Not hard.

I have to drive over 60miles every year to BMW headquarters for training on new vehicles. Yet i never use a gps. Or look at my speed since its all memorized.

To be entire honest I only ever use OnX BackCountry for "Oh shit" navigation moments where I need an offline map where I am hiking (or in the case of OnX Offroad when I am driving down a service road to where I am hiking). I have never really used it for any hard core route following. Mostly just double checking that I am pointed in the right direction on a service road.

One of the goals with the scout is actually to use it for more overlanding "adventures" verses my current CX-50 with AT Trails where I just use to to access a point where I can hike.

I’ve been driving for… 30 years? Got my license in 1995, so yeah, this summer is 30 years, that’s right. I have had one at-fault accident that came as a result of me being overly reliant on feelings. instead of my vision while backing up. I appreciate your perspective, but I disagree. I haven’t trained at BMW headquarters, but I also know what I’m doing. Agree to disagree, young chief.
