What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
What is the one thing you almost always have in your pocket? Your phone. Although I have all of these different keys as options, the phone is what I use most of the time: https://stories.rivian.com/unlock-your-vehicle To access a locked Rivian, you don't need to have the phone out of your pocket or the FOB out of your pocket, since proximity sensing enables unlock. If it is freezing out and I am home, I will open the app in the house and turn-on heat, heated steering wheel and heated seats from the app (or A/C if baking in the summer). It takes exactly 3 taps on the phone to do all of that with the App open. I usually take the fob with me when I will be away from the truck for any extended period of time. The FOB does serve a purpose. I will say that while the Rivian FOB looks cool with the carabiner design, it is useless unless it is in your hand (the buttons were not designed to be tactile enough to be useful, and its hard to tell whether you are on the front or the back of the FOB when it is in your pocket). I think they tried some improvements with the Gen 2 FOB, but it really needs a re-design.

Of course all of this has nothing to do with "starting the car," in the traditional sense of the term "start".

Rivian's camp mode is great for more than camping. I use it when parked at a field, or when in a spot where you want to go stealth and dim the lights (interior and/or exterior). Camp mode has settings that can be changed based on what you are doing in the truck. Its nice to have it.

I'm all for the key fob! Much easier to throw in my pocket during a hike or bike ride when my phone stays in the car. Also, please be mindful of safety features for the women (especially) out there. I don't want to have my head down on my phone while walking to my car at night. Would love approach lights as a safety feature as well!

Could use an astronomy mode, faint red lighting only.

The camp/stealths mode along with pet mode are a must have.

A lot of those different modes were shown in those videos from CES if I’m remembering correctly.
Detox Mode and Camp Mode

Im most excited for Detox Mode, for a few reasons, mainly because infotainment screens at night are killer no matter if they have a night screen brightness that lowers automatically. They still kill the retinas.

I just want to be able to pick and choose. I don’t want to have to get a package with 10 things when I only want one thing in the package. I would imagine a la carte is difficult in a vehicle but that’s what I would prefer.
Like if we want premium stereo but don’t need the top trim off road package it should be an option. Advanced safety features should be standard.

Fully understand but maintaining a 5th tire with rotations etc… those using them as local family haulers may not want the added weight or hassle of dealing with again-I want a spare but I haven’t had real spares on my last 4 vehicles and I’ve been fine so might be a solid option for a buying segment
Yes. Considering the scout is longer than bronco not sure it will fit in the garage with the spare. Depending on cost and if comes with the off road package I may not need it as the majority of usage will be daily driver and family. Will have to see.

Many vehicle manufacturers have implemented an automatic park feature that engages when the driver unbuckles their seatbelt or opens the door while the vehicle is not in park. I understand some manufacturers had some roll away problems way back when. But, not a fan.
I am usually with you on this topic, but if this is coupled with the removal of the start/stop button and 1 peddle driving then this can be really nice... When you pull into your parking spot you don't need to put the car in park or turn if off, instead, with the car still in drive, you just open the door and walk away. It puts itself in park, locks the doors, closes the windows, and shuts itself off, all while you're walking away.
It's odd at first, but then it becomes a really a freeing feeling to not need to do anything for a shutdown procedure.

I struggle with this just because at some point you do something thoughtless. It may not be the car but like “crap-left my wallet in the car and you get back and window is smashed and wallet gone”. I still like a tactile approach just like the buttons in the car. I get the convenience but it’s like cruise control-it becomes so easy you forget the common sense steps and lose focus but just my opinion

that is crazy - they should be required to support something like that for at least 5 years. That is so misleading.
At least! I’m planning on keeping the Scout for at least 10. If I can get 15 out of her all the better.

I keep telling my husband we will keep the Scout and the Supra until we are too old to get down into the Supra and up into the Scout and then we get the champagne colored small SUV that 85 year olds drive. No offense to 85 year olds driving champagne colored SUVS. 😹
