What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
At least! I’m planning on keeping the Scout for at least 10. If I can get 15 out of her all the better.

I keep telling my husband we will keep the Scout and the Supra until we are too old to get down into the Supra and up into the Scout and then we get the champagne colored small SUV that 85 year olds drive. No offense to 85 year olds driving champagne colored SUVS. 😹
My Flex is a 2010 and I'm hoping he makes it until I can get the Scout. Cars should last much longer than that for sure

Saw this article tonight. Kind of worries me about future scenarios. We’ve touched on this before but to see it happen in cars this new is frustrating.

The same thing happened with my 2019 Golf. It was designed for 3G. When the tech is sunsetted, it ends. I received a letter from VW a few months ago saying they had given up trying to find an upgrade solution. It happens with most systems. Onstar is over 25 years old and dead in older GM cars. A phone app can do many of the same functions these days, except perhaps the crash/SOS function. It is indeed frustrating, especially since the average age of a car on American roads is now 12 years.

We had a similar thing happen with our old LEAF. It was a 2012 with a GSM connection to the phone app and when the old GSM network was taken offline in 2017 we lost app connectivity. Nissan wanted some ridiculous amount of money to upgrade the modem to 3G but we took a pass on that. What was great was that the key fob for the Leaf had most of the functionality you'd want and the rest could be programmed in the head unit so even without the phone app it wasn't a big deal.

The Scouts need to be nearly fully functional without an app. The apps are nice but the vehicle needs to be usable without them. I'm hoping Scout does a more traditional auto thing and include a key fob. There needs to be redundancy, both electronic and mechanical, especially given these vehicles will likely be taken places well beyond cell service.

I’m all in on team key fob. I don’t want just some credit card or phone app thing. Old school please. Im so used to having to put a key in the ignition I don’t know what im gonna do.

My grandson is 4. Someday it would be really nice to pass my Scout down to him. I would like it to still be functional even tho at that point it won’t be able to be updated by SM due to its age I would imagine.

There was actually 2 designs at the reveal the second is attached also saw this pic in my library and apparently forgot about it some unique merch ideas that we haven’t seen on the store-YET!View attachment 6800View attachment 6801
I don’t see a remote start (though I guess that’s really only for HVAC, not engine warmup) so I hope that’s included on the fob.

Having to have an app to remote start (and pay a subscription) is not the experience I want to have.

Paging Scout - it would be nice to be able to put a carabiner or similar directly on the fob, instead of having to use keyrings. Please keep that hole big! Also, waterproof fob pretty please so I don’t have to think about it.

Is that two different key fobs or the front and then the back? That’s kinda what it looks like.

And yeah I hope this means more stuff is coming to the Supply store. I see a few more things I would order for sure.

Also a key fob glove. They make those hard plastic covers for key fobs. I prefer the one that basically a leather glove for your key fob.

It appears one is facing up and the other is facing down.
