What are you driving until release?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I drove a 2014 Cadillac ELR (an EREV before EREVs were cool) for 10 years and planned to keep it until the new Scout came out but with the expected wait and the bargain prices on used EVs, I decided to get a BEV. I’ll be driving this 2019 Audi e-tron until I get a Scout Traveller. I have a Harvester reserved.

Depreciated EVs are such a no brainer right now.....actually that does give me pause....hopefully depreciation levels can get back to normal over the next couple years because I do not want to be on the wrong end of the stick like so many of these early adopters were.

I have been thinking the exactly same thing.

The smart money for a vehicle right now, seems to be lightly used EV's (especially if you're looking for a "regional use" vehicle).

I know the Subaru Solterra is made fun of for its slow charging speed and short range (and rightly so). But, you can also find them lightly used (~13-25k miles), for like $22-25k. Thats like 50% off MSRP, for an awd vehicle, that is almost brand new.

And as much as I like the scout, with me potentially being priced out, I've been thinking more and more "could I wait another 3 years for lease returns to start landing"?

Color matched-very nice! That’s the only Lincoln I really like-they are nice SUV’s

So, the color match story is quite amusing. My wife chose the Maverick with a nonmetallic color called Area51. It’s a bit of a gray/green shade, like something out of an Alien movie. When I ordered the Corsair online, I thought I was getting a dark metallic blue. All the other colors seemed so dull. But when I went to pick it up from the dealer, I couldn’t help but burst out laughing. The vehicle delivery agent was puzzled by my laughter and asked what was so funny. I explained that Whisper Blue, was eerily similar to Area51 the color of my wife’s Maverick, . He looked at me like I was crazy and just said, ‘Sign here.’

I figured the Maverick was area 52 and I know the blue is similar but it’s a good match. At one point we had 3 gray Honda/Acuras at our house. Each a bit different but funny just the same

2015 MB GL450 - might not make it 3 years (while amazing cars, they are very fiddly with a lot of gizmos/etc that go. Also, I had one cam replaced due to huge chips out of it, so we're hoping the thing stays good now that we've done a bunch of work to the engine a couple of years ago).
2003 Prius - might not make it 3 years
1973 Scout 2 (keeping forever)
1971 Travelall (probably will be replaced by the 2027 Traveler)

Short term, I'll probably need to replace both our dailies, so maybe move the MB into a Cayenne or even something more mid sized, this would become the wife's forever car. I'd also consider a used Model 3 Tesla as an interim car.

It's kind of a contest to see which of the first two craps out first. I'm just hoping they both last at least another year.

A lot of ev experts are recommending leasing for new EVs because the current depreciation rates are so high. Hopefully as technology matures that’ll smooth out a bit.

It's a serious issue. Between the EV tax credit disappearing and EV depreciation in freefall, I would absolutely pass on a purchase right now due to those risks. Thankfully from a Scout perspective we don't have to worry about this for a couple years. Hopefully by then the EV market will have stabilized. In the meantime I agree cheap used EVs are the play however I'll also throw in cheap leases which is the case for us right now.

I know, right? My Audi was almost $90k new and I got it for less than $25k so I could get the $4k used EV credit. My buddy got a '22 Model 3 with full self-driving for the same.

I had a 2013 Kia Sorento which got totalled when my wife was driving it. :( 100% the other persons fault.

Took the payout, + some cash, and bought a 2017 Audi Q7, that will get me through until the Scout is available.

That's essentially what our ID.4 lease is doing, holding us over until 2027 when we make a move into something a bit more permanent.

My Ram caught fire a couple weeks ago while hooked to the block heater ?‍♂️ ,
