Special/First Edition Scouts

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Call it the “Original Edition” or “Wanderer” or one of the cool trademarks you have hanging out and price it extra low:

Cheap interior, no luxury features except the federally mandated safety gear (I’d take seat heaters though), specced with the Offroad package and Harvester option. Some unique 17” steelies or steely-lookalikes and a special edition pinstripe (not rallye stripes).

Easy way to differentiate from dealer price gouging on limited/special editions, and a nice starting point to work out the kinks before introducing a bunch of bells and whistles. The types who buy it knowingly will probably get out and get them scratched and dirty which fits the social marketing and the brand. Plus then you can say “starting at $40k” or whatever in marketing. @Jamie@ScoutMotors

I think I’m #2738 in line, so offer it to the first 2739 reservations and make it limited!

Your reservation number has nothing to do with your position and putting a best foot forward is what sells to the majority. Same reason builders load up a model home. As an early res holder I’ll be quite disappointed if the first out the gate are stripped down. Needs to be a mid level trim and allow a decent number of upgrades to be added so everyone gets most of what they want

I think back at the Bronco First edition and the rather high price for it. Hope Scout is more reasonable.

Any time a new factory starts production for the first time, they like it when production is simplified as much as possible so they are building simple configurations as they ramp up. That's the reason why there are launch editions. I'm not sure what Scout will do yet, but we've discussed the fact that we'd like to avoid one very expensive launch edition. Let's see how this all shakes out, but I'll keep you all in the loop.

Thanks Jamie! I am really hoping by the time it rolls off the line I have enough money saved up!

Thanks Jamie for always keeping us up to date!

Here's one Jamie could get on board with: Scout Community Package
  • Bundle of fan favorite options that were debated and agreed upon within these very forums.
  • Promotes the greater Scout community, Scout can use this as a "we hear you" or "here's a thank you"
  • New customers might be more apt to select a package that was legitimately selected by fans
  • Community members get a discount code on said package

Yeah, I know, but a guy can fantasize. There’s a ton of logical reasons to roll out high feature models first (like $$$ and social marketing showing the maximum possible). I don’t know enough to second guess it. I think there’s a growing desire for the *appearance* of cheap model trims (see populism, R2/3, and Slate) but economically for Scout I can imagine it probably makes sense to start with mid or high trims. And I hope there’s at least a vague relation to reserving day 1 versus day 300…but yes, after following the Bronco and Rivian launches I’m well aware its not exact.

Okay after reading Jamie’s response my sort-of joke is no longer a joke, give us the People’s Scout Launch Edition!
