Spare tire discussion

We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

Which size spare would you get?

  • 33-inch spare under the body

It has been stated the standard combo will be 18” with 33’s.
33’s and 35’s will fit on swing out tire rack. At the reveal the didn’t specifically say the 35’s wouldn’t fit under but implied 35’s and up would be bed mounted on terra.
Has any manufacturers had a factory Pickup tailgate tire mount?

I've not seen any as standard. I found this picture of an aftermarket one. Not sure how I feel about it.

Yes I have found all kinds of Pickup aftermarket tailgate spare mounts. I was curious if anyone has had one from the factory. Non come to mind for me.
I don’t think I have ever seen a spare on a pickup. I see them on 4Runners all the time. I also like the ladders they put on 4Runners. I wonder if we could get a ladder on the Traveler.
 
Personally I’m ok with the 35’s. Like you I’d like to have a bed cover, and the spare would sure impinge on that as well as take too much room in the bed. I want the rear mount like the Traveler. Or since I don’t particularly care one way or another about the “Frunk”, put the spare there.
Frunk isn’t big enough to contain a 35 wheel. Was suggested early on and we were told likely too tight. Having seen it at reveal I understand why they said it-just too big to fit in the space that’s left

I would probably buy a rear aftermarket bumper with a swing out. So neither option of the poll for me. But several friends have the receiver hitch style and they like them. The newer ones barely make noise or move offroad.
