  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I have an early Rivian R1T and recently picked up an R1S for my wife. Have always been a big Scout fan so have “first few minutes” reservations for a BEV Traveler and a Harvester Terra. Really thinking the Traveler may be the replacement for my R1T as I’m not yet sold on a full size truck. Also not really sure I’m interested in the harvester powertrain so will likely switch Terra to BEV at some point. With about 100k miles in EVs and now that the southeast charging network actually exists I’m plenty confortable taking my Rivians anywhere I want to go.

Welcome to the forum!

If you do switch the Terra to BEV, you can join the cool kids club, a small, elite group of us reservation holders. The 8.2 percenters.

TLDR: I had a thought experiement about range anxiety today. I switched from the scout traveler+harvester to the scout traveler EV.

I was doing a deep dive with my AI friend, Gemini, about different options. I have a 2012 RAV4 4 cyl base model. It was 2019, interest rates were low, and I wanted out of my 2002 Honda Accord.

I went camping recently. I live in the Midwest and it seems like charging infrastructure is lacking. Or that's what the propaganda keeps telling you. I wanted a RAV4 prime, and I remember reading how it could charge using a 110v household plug.

Well 😂, I was camping this weekend. We missed our turn and ended up on the worst unmaintained dirt road you can imagine. Towards the bottom of the hill it was almost soup, nothing but mud. So slippery, the rear end wouldn't stay in line with the front end (FWD). It was a traumatic experience.

I was thinking of campers, and the weight of campers. Then it hit me, I was talking to Gemini and it said.. you lose approximately 2000 lb towing capacity and half of your battery pack. And it's possible that your battery technology could be different. Gemini also told me, those state parks have RV hookups. Well crap! I could be in the middle of nowhere, but those campsites have electricity!!!! I have charging options in the cities and I have charging options at the campsites. Why would I, as an electrical engineer, want anything less than the full thing?

So I changed my reservation from the scout traveler with the harvester, to just the scout traveler full EV.

Welcome to the community and welcome to the BEV Club. I also switched my reservation to BEV not too long ago. Glad you are here!

Here are some resources with sites that have chargers:

I am very glad I'm not the only one. I can't believe how many people want the harvester, like 80% of the reservations so far! I thought I needed it. It's so bizarre that both myself and my hubby thought I needed a hybrid/plug-in hybrid/erev. My hubby drives an EV now and I'm stuck in the RAV4 until I get that new sweet ride.

Same! I thought it would be the opposite or at most 50/50. I’m in a 2013 Wrangler and Occasionally I drive my hubby’s Supra. I can’t wait for my Traveler. Like I’m literally counting down the days. They said end of 2027 for production. I have a digital countdown clock on my desk. It’s 767 days to December 31, 2027. Ha!

Enjoy the forum. It’s helping pass the time.
