As a Touareg diesel owner and future Scout enthusiast, I wanted to share an idea for discussion.
I understand Scout's current Harvester EREV plan uses a gasoline-powered range extender, and I think EREV concept is one of the most exciting things about the Traveler. However, I wonder if Scout has considered an optional diesel-powered range extender for future models.
Some potential benefits could include:
-Improved fuel efficiency during long-distance travel
-Greater driving range between fuel stops
-Strong appeal to overland and expedition travelers
-Durability and longevity often associated with diesel engines
-Better support for towing and remote-area adventures
I understand there would also be challenges, including emissions regulations cost, packaging, and engineering complexity. This is not a criticism of current gasoline EREV design. I simple think a diesel option could be interesting for customers who prioritize long-distance travel and expedition use.
As someone who currently owns diesel and gasoline SUVs, I would be interested in hearing what other Scout offered one in the future?
