  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

The continuing saga of my Wrangler. So the part will be there today for the upper AC line. That will get replaced and they will recharge the system and that’s just my $100 deductible.

Now they are saying maybe the fuel pump is causing the other issue but they aren’t sure yet. The only issue with that is some of the fuel pumps are on back order. They have had a vehicle sitting there for a month waiting for one. So now I get to cross my fingers that if it’s that they can get the part.

Come on Rain, you just have to make it a couple more years!
Hang in there.

Oh, I hear you here.

My last vehicle was starting to break down at an alarming pace. And I eventually moved on, even though after each repair it "should" have been ok. I hope you have better luck (the lifetime warranty thing there should help a lot. I was doing all my repairs myself in the garage). And it still had a leaking camshaft seal, so it would leak oil onto the exhaust manifold, and stink/smoke when idling at lights :/.

In just like a year and a half I'd done: Main Seal, Valve cover gaskets, 2x motor mounts, Crankshaft Position Sensor, wheel bearings, control arms, Fuel pump x2, Mass Airflow Sensor, Throttle body, brake rotors (and tires/battery, but I don't really count that).

The second time being stranded with it, happened in the bustling metropolis of Kellogg Idaho. After being on the road for hours already, we pulled into a McDonalds to grab some food with the kids. I helped unload them all (they were both in full car seats), and I went to go get gas while my wife ordered food. But... it cranked, and didn't start. It was like 6pm, and we had to grab an emergency hotel room (at the one hotel in town, Kellogg is a town of like 1500 people). I flagged down people to help us get to the hotel room, and then spent the next day or two working with a shop in town to get it fixed, as I didn't have my tools with me.

The problem was the fuel pump (again, only like 9 months after the first replacement). And they didn't have the part in town, And the closest place that had it was like 2 hours away, and they didn't have anyone to go get it. So I volunteered to grab it. And surprisingly, they accepted. They let me drive their shop vehicle, and I drove the 4hr round trip to go get the fuel pump.

When I went to pay for stuff after the install (which went fast as you'd expect), I sort of joked about "wait, do I get paid for the time spent getting the part??". And surprisingly, they went for it. Between that price reduction, and the shop pricing for the fuel pump, it barely cost me more than when I did it at home before (and had the added benefit of me not having to scrounge tools while in a strange place).

But mine was a 2005 Mazda 6 Wagon which was purchased secondhand (and surprisingly, we really liked the thing. The shape/formfactor of the vehicle was great, but the Ford bits were really letting us down).

I really hope your warranty helps you avoid the worst of that.

If they’re throwing parts at it, it’s going to take a long time to fix and will be supremely frustrating. :(
I suppose the bright side is that you might get a bunch of new parts for a minimum cost?

That communications DTC is where I would focus my efforts. I would pull out the communications hub, check out whether it’s failed, and if it has, trace down the source of the failure. The hub is simple enough that its failure might be the proximate cause, but there’s likely an ultimate failure elsewhere that caused the hub’s failure.

Wow - to say that you're a valuable resource here would be an understatement!

I’m guessing.

I’m public about my dislike of dealerships, including the tech departments.

However...

In this case, the Jeep technicians are in a difficult place: Jeep isn’t going to pay them to do a bunch of exploratory diagnostics, so they have to find/claim a problem, get the customer’s permission to “fix” the problem, and then hope that the fix was the right fix. Meantime, the customer has to hope that fix was the right one.

If Jeep/manufacturers paid for exploratory diagnostics, this problem would be solvable within a couple of days. But that would increase the cost of warranties.
Or Jeep/manufacturers would put more diagnostic sensors or more targeted diagnostic sensors in their systems, solutions would be clearer. But that would increase the cost of the vehicle.
