Off Road Performance

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scoutsā„¢. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Shoutout to the one guy in IT that will be working that night.
Ya. Let's not do that! 🤣

We will get to order them in 2027, but Scout isnt delivering until 2028 unless I missed something.

That being said once the Builder Page is open I will be playing with it every day until mine arrives. lol
That’s not the way I understood it. I understood deliveries end of 2027.

And yes I hope we have the builder page well in advance of having to place our orders. It’s going to take me a while to decide. My husband can attest to that.

I did a search for off road tuned suspension. But, nothing came up except a statement from Scott saying they would be doing a "Proper" off road vehicle. One can only hope this will be part of that configuration.
Maybe that’s what is sticking in my head. So much content hear I’m getting nose-blind as the air freshener commercial used to say

As I commented on the other thread. The media keeps saying 2028. SM early on said it would be 2027 and they haven’t actually said otherwise. 2-1/2 years ago the initial date was late 2026 early 2027 so even with a 6 month loss I still have to believe it will be 2027 deliveries. They might be just in time to park under a big ass X-mas tree but I think a good portion of very early res holders will see a vehicle for the holidays in 2027 and what a X-mas morning that would be 🤣

We need giant SM colored bows on the hood like they do in the commercials.

I want mine completely wrapped in Christmas paper. Way more fun for that split second of knowing exactly what’s under the paper but having the trill of being in my driveway Xmas morning tearing away paper 🤣

Well now whatever day you get it it just needs to be wrapped. 😹

I love your optimism. Just not getting my hopes up. A few journalists have said 2028 in when talking to folks from Scout, and they weren’t corrected. Maybe they were just being kind since they will be 2028 model year vehicles and it makes things confusing.

I’m also not familiar with car manufacturing but production in 2027 would still make me think that many of us will be taking delivery in 2028 depending on which model and options we choose.

If it comes sooner than that, I’m going to be jumping for joy like everyone else.

Part of its optimism. Part of it is knowing the number of cars they can build in a year. At a capacity of 200,000 a year even at 25% to start that’s 50K vehicles at the rate of a couple hours per car. Based on construction the factory should be waiting for them to start so I could see like 10,000 vehicles before end of 2027 but I suspect it will probably be mainly BEv since design is further ahead than the EREV

Peak manufacturing capacity usually involves 3 shifts. Most manufacturers start with one and ramp up over time.

I think Rivian is currently just running two shifts. When R2 launches they will be moving to one single shift for the first half of 2026 and will add a 2nd and 3rd shift if demand calls for it.

When they first started they were producing 1,000-2,000 vehicles per month and didn’t hit 15,000 vehicles until the 3rd quarter.

Even at Scout’s ambitious manufacturing capacity, we will probably see 1,000-3,000 Scouts for the first few months of production before they ramp up.

Your numbers track so that’s probably a fair estimate depending on when they kick things off.

I’m still just being optimistic for all of us.

I’m actually sort of glad that we placed our reservation on December 22. I’m anticipating a mid 2028 delivery for us. Hopefully we will see some real world feedback before we make a final decision. Still leaning towards a Harvester, but inching closer to the BEV. It looks like the availability of 350kW chargers will increase dramatically in the next 2 1/2 years. Hopefully filling in to the more remote areas.

@Jaime@ScoutMotors It would be great if late pre-production vehicles could be sent to Out of Spec Reviews, State of Charge, and TFL. It would be fantastic to see charging curves and an Ike Gauntlet before making a decision.

I think you meant 2028, and same. Reserved the Harvester and now am leaning towards the BEV.

Abe completely agree. The more info we can get the better when it comes time to make our decisions.

I see the need for a lot of real-world testing to build consumer confidence, create awareness, build sales & marketing assets and to enable early adoption / conversion of reservations (some without actual test drives). With a limited run of vehicles, training and hiring of personnel on the business side and no real physical locations in market, it will be a craw / walk / run approach for sure.

Rivian would be a good parallel example to draw from... They basically used the skeleton of the old Mitsubishi plant in Normal to jump start construction on the plant, but had to completely re-tool, add other buildings, and ramp to any meaningful production capacity over the first year, as noted. This is also a smart approach for Scout. So while Scout may start taking orders, we will likely see the first privately-owned (non-employee) trucks on the road in 2028 in any meaningful numbers (if I was a betting man).

As long as it’s a model year 28. I already have my personalized plate. I don’t want to have to get a new one. 😹

Oh and I have been out to that Rivian plant it’s huge now and continuing to grow.
