Ideal Small Sized Vehicle

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

So various discussions have cued on smaller or larger SUV next from Scout.
When people say smaller are you thinking:
A-Suzuki Jimney
B-Honda CRV/Toyota RAV4
Or
C-4-door Bronco/Honda Passport

And should it be fully capable as well or more of a daily driver?

Is it a complete open top lifestyle vehicle or a more practical utility vehicle-or both?

What are one or two of the most key features for said vehicle if you are in the market for smaller than Traveler SM vehicle.

What is an acceptable range-both BEV or Harvester?

Perhaps we can help SM in their planning and shed some light on what smaller model means to us and what the most common needs are for a vehicle that is smaller than the traveler.

For my purposes, B, daily driver, BEV. Something like an r2, but with scout design.

Or even somewhere in between this and the 800
Agreed. I would prefer smaller than my post suggested, but I didn't know if it would sell.

It's probably time to remind people that the largest IH SUV, the Travelall, was smaller than the 2028 Scout Traveler will be.

I would love for Scout to bring back a Travelall one day!

They basically are, just updated for today’s style cues! ;)

I think you mean the classic styling as much as the size. I bet with a bit of clever wrapping, the Traveler could be made to look a lot like the Travelall.

Here’s some ai slop approximating that. Needs chrome wheels and a piece of chrome trim along the length.

I would throw the Jeep Cherokee XJ into that mix as a benchmark. It was nearly perfect in all aspects. Certainly passenger comfort and quality could be improved.

Benchmark Jeep XJ and Gen 3 4Runner for exterior. Increase cabin space and comfort. 300 miles EV and maybe 400 Harvester range. Needs to be trail capable obviously, but really needs to urban friendly. Think tight parking, narrow streets, nimble, comfortable and timeless design. Not trendy. I have said this before we saw the Traveler and Terra but think about the 4runner and how ubiquitous it is. It looks at home on the trail, in the rocks, doing outdoor sports, work, going out for a night on the town, and just everyday stuff. It is not judged negatively by any class of buyer. That is the formula. It can have multiple drivetrains, single motor RWD, dual motor AWD and full-on 4x4 depending on your needs. It should be the Lexus GX to the Lexus LX or Toyota Prado to the Toyota full size Landcruiser. For me, full open top is not desirable. I know it is to some. I am looking for more utility and comfort. I do think there is a space for a Wrangler Bronco competitor, but it will be relatively low volume and niche.

I wonder if Scout is considering making a smaller pickup in the near future?

I'm thinking of something about the same size as the Ford Maverick. That seems like the size Ford is targeting with their new EV truck, though I think the styling is going to be an issue since Ford is focusing on efficiency to get the desired range.

If Scout was offering a mid-sized all-electric truck that matched the Scout styling and still focused on off-road capability, I would switch my reservation in a heartbeat. Even if it had a shorter bed and less interior room (so it could be shorter and narrower than the Terra).

Next model I expect would be a 3 row Traveler.
Next model after that would be a Rivian R2 competitor
If they feel like it: Small truck based on the above.
Notable mention: Contract to build Traveler based Audi SUV.
I concur. They already have the big platform so that’s relatively low effort and quicker returns.
