How much more would you pay for a Launch Edition Scout

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I doubt it. Scout has said they are coming out with the EREV first. I only expect a single "launch" model. Since the EREV comes first, the launch edition will be an EREV. At this point, the BEV is most likely going to be a footnote if they finally get around to it.
I guess I’m just thinking of it like Rivian. They had a launch edition of the quad R1S. It was an R1S just a different motor setup right.

Hard to answer this far out, like others have said it comes down to a cost/benefit equation. For the Scout it likely won't be an issue for me, as I have no interest in an EREV at this time, but we'll see what the next 2-3 years brings. As a straight "jump to the front of the line" cost, the answer is $0.

For the R2, after reviewing the specs my 1st choice would be the Premium, there's really nothing on the Performance package that I actually want, but if the stars align and we decide we want it whenever our reservation comes up (this fall, maybe?) then the extra value appears to be good enough that I'd be taking the Premium, but with 20" wheels.

I have a question. I always do.

Now that the R2 specs have been released are they still taking reservations? How does that work if you want one after launch, when they aren’t readily available to purchase?

The model will be the traveler, the power train can be swapped and scout will have to be able to support them during the first wave because they can’t guarantee that EREV reservations will stay that way at final purchase

They’ve said priority but they haven’t said first. And plant can roll with both models at same time so it may not be that simple.

So what does priority mean?

The most straightforward answer I’ve seen, straight from Jamie, is that there are a lot more orders for Harvester Travelers than anything else. Obviously, if that’s where the demand is, isn’t that what they would want to get made first?

Ah-ha. That’s the magic-we don’t actually know. The thinking (for me anyway) is that the EREV is further behind in development but has more demand. Therefore they are prioritizing it to wrap it up and then running both in production with a higher number of EREVs. But that is also open to interpret-if the geopolitical nonsense keeps up and we are all paying $5/gallon when Scout launches the take rate could swing hard to all BEV models then -would Scout get busy building more BEV’s.
Still too many “what” questions to answer

They've known of the overwhelming support for the EREV now for some time, so I'm thinking engineering resources likely got reallocated. Still, the EREV is a lot more complex, so I'm curious what the development delta is between the models nowadays.

As far as priority, there's no telling. Despite my "priority" with Rivian, I got bumped down a bit because they weren't selling in my state at the time. So many factors can affect this.
