How did you find out about the new Scouts?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Hello peeps. Someone mentioned in another thread how they found out about the new Scouts.

It got me thinking, how did we all end up here. I don’t have any heritage with the Scouts are my family never had one back in the day.

I have been looking for just the right thing to replace my Wrangler with. I love boxy vehicles with a tire on the back and there just aren’t that many. I was test driving and test driving. I googled “things that look like a Wrangler” and an article about Scout popped up. I just found a screenshot I took in my phone from September of 2023. After that every car I test drove I said it’s okay, but I’m waiting till the Scout gets revealed and I had the date on my calendar. The rest, as they say, is history.

So how about the rest of you. How did you find out about the new Scouts and did you have some sort of history with them?

I don't have any personal history with scout, but always loved seeing them in video games. My partner and I playing snow runner and the international truck became the only vehicle they used. When I started looking into EV trucks the name “scout” was floating around but had nothing of substance attached to it, about a year or so later they did the unveiling of concepts, chatted about it with a friend of mine the day after and then kinda forgot about them until videos started to come out of the LA auto show. I’m now I’m better place financially and saving for a new truck. Seemed like the perfect time to put in a reservation

In November of 2024 I was in Michigan visiting with some work colleagues from the automotive research laboratory I retired from after 41 years. They were all talking about this new Scout Innovation Center in Novi where I had lived for 28 years. When I returned to Florida, I looked up Scout and found a company that had community and authenticity I was looking for; and some of the best-looking vehicles I have come across in a long time. Didn’t take long before I made a reservation for a new Traveler.

My first cat at 16 was a Scout traveall that had been my parents. Believe it was a 77 or 79 model year-I never remember. Rusted out basically a year or so after I was driving it so my parents got rid of it. I had dreams of buckets of bonding and paint, etc… but my parents said no. Since then I had always had another Scout in my mind as a someday vehicle. Had my Bronco reserved and delayed ordering until the heritage model came out. Don’t like it as much as I had hoped so then one day somebody on the Bronco forum said there was a Scout Motors forum-started digging in and signed up same day and committed to having another scout.

No history with Scout for me, I'm from the UK originally so had never even heard of Scout until I heard about it here. I was looking and researching EV pick up trucks for a while, I was leaning towards the F150 Lightning over the Silverado EV but had some concerns on both over software compared to my current Tesla. I'm also not really interested in a Cybertruck so not much to choose from. I follow out of spec and saw Kyle post about reserving one so I went to the website to check it all out and liked what I saw. I figured it's only $100 refundable reservation so I put down my deposit on release day as well figuring I could cancel it if I didn't like it after doing more research and stuff but so far it's looking good to me. I also like to research well in advance so I have no problem waiting for 2027/2028 to pick it up.

Several years ago someone (my daughter I think) sent me link to renders similar to those shown above, except they were in the metallic yellow similar to my avatar. I was excited until reading about the electrification. The whole thing slipped into the deep recesses of my memory until this past May when somehow I came across a repost of the reveal event. After a little YouTube digging I got hooked fast. Found the forums and website and made my reservation, a Terra Harvester.

I was always into Scouts since I saw an old IH Tractor and went through a rabbit hole on International Harvester in 2018. Then in 2022 I was wondering if there was any for sale, that I could work on. I saw a blank website, that had nothing on it but the community page that I didn't join. I made a mental not of the website and have watched the progress of the Big Return.

And now I have a Traveler Reservation. So that's closer than I ever was to getting and Old Scout.

Don't recall exactly - but I had a habit of watching videos of upcoming EV's, waiting for one that interested me. Scout is probably the 4th, but of the first 3, 2 are not making any progress towards production, and the other made production and was a major disappointment. That said, it was 20 years of watching.

Every day on the way to school growing up I would pass a house that had a bright red 1970 800a in the driveway. I thought it was the coolest car ever and planned to buy it when they put a for sale sign up on it (this never happened). I've kept that tucked away in my mind that one day when I'm more salt than pepper I'd buy one and restore it.

30 years later I saw an article about how VW had purchased Scout, gave it a passing "yeah okay buddy" and was shocked a few years later when there was an announcement planned. Put it on my calendar. Day 1 reservation. The rest is history.

Still want to buy an 800a and restore it, but at least the pepper is holding strong.

I saw an advertisement on a streaming service. Can't remember which one. I did some research and decided to put a deposit down for the new Scout once it's released. I am super excited for it. Never owned a Scout before but have loved the look of them.
