If I were a betting man (I'm not), I'd bet that those who receive the first Scouts off the line will depend on some formula based on the following factors: what you reserved (they are building the Harvester Traveler first), whether you're willing to buy and pay for what you can get at launch (at launch, they likely won't be cheap, with Scout probably prioritizing the highest trim models, some of which many not interest even early reservation holders and may be limited in what you can spec), your location (how close are you to a Scout service location?), and your place in the reservation line.

I tend to agree with you. I have had some introspective thoughts lately regarding my Scout future/Future Scout. I am 100% content with my current vehicle. I am going to just wait and see. The configuration I would want is probably pretty far out from production. The good part is that I am not in a big rush and can wait out the initial bugs and issues that are inevitable. However, with the timing being so far out, I may not need or want a vehicle that large. I still hold out hope that it slims down a bit. Maybe I just wait for something smaller. No matter what happens I am very happy that Scout will be back on the road again.

As much as I want to be first on the block, I’m going to have to take a deep breath and not settle for something that’s not my dream build. I have a list of nonnegotiables and I need to stick to that because when it comes right down to it I’m gonna have my Scout for years. Better to wait a bit at the front end then regret my purchase down the line when what I want becomes available.

I have not even shown the hubs this yet. It’s a Nissan and has never been a Nissan guy but his favorite car was his Honda del Sol and that removable roof. If they actually make this it may really tempt him.

agree,I have a 1978 SSII from New Legend.aka/Anything Scout and I am happy with that,I will wait for the Luxury model to come out if they have one, but the new SQ9 is a killer truck at almost 600hp,tough not pulling the plug on that ,lets see what happens, and if they let us sit in the truck that may? change my mind to wait...

Look I get it, I have sat in them, but they are $5 million each! They are not production trucks yet and they just can’t have everyone climbing in and out of them. Here’s what I will say. When I went to Nats last year I didn’t get to sit in them. Just looking at them that was enough, I was sold and my decision was made. So in my opinion, it’s worth it to go see them even if you can’t sit in them.

Saw this as well. It’s an interesting story as I remember the article about the guy who bought one with the intent of adding those T-tops and so glad his effort paid off. I’ve really enjoyed the newest Z and wish they would have offered a convertible but this is pretty close. And who doesn’t love a 70’s throwback. I think, like SM they did the retro evolution well

Even if Scout somehow manages to convert all of the reservations to orders and get 10x as many orders as they have reservations, and are able to ramp up production in record time, you are still very likely to be the first one on the block to have one.

The best-selling vehicle on the market in 2025 was the Toyota Rav4 (475,000), and while you see them “everywhere,” not every block has one...

As far as I can tell, while we took our time to consider the R2, we’re still the first one in our town to have one.

This is a very reasonable approach and your comment about regretting your purchase down the line is something I'm going to have to wrestle with at launch. I always seem to find some excuse to trade my vehicle two or three years after I get it. What I don't want to do is what I did with the '21 Silverado Trail Boss (everyone seemed to have one, it wasn't a ZR2, it was "plain inside" and the tires were too "small") and the '23 Silverado ZR2 (the gas mileage was KILLING me (and the planet) and the thing was dang hard to drive in the city where I live). Even my '25 R1T is a little small inside, which is why I'm looking forward to the Traveler. I want to make sure whatever I get is perfect for me for however long I have it. Then when I trade it back on for a Next Gen Traveler it's my decision and not because there was something I didn't like.

One thing we have noticed is that we’re both car people and we have different desires/needs over time. So what might have been the perfect vehicle at one point in our lives often doesn’t last very long. At one time, a minivan was perfect for road trips with a baby and toddler. But then later when we started going farther off the beaten path for camping trips, the minivan really wasn’t cutting it so we moved to an Outback. Then we needed something with much better gas mileage. Then…then…then…

I totally agree with you, but my problem is FOMO lol! I absolutely want to get my Traveler as soon as I can but when the next Gen comes out, (much like I did with my Rivian) I will almost undoubtedly want the latest and greatest and trade it.

See I don’t want to be thinking oh my Traveler is fine, but I’m really waiting for….

After I see them this weekend I’m going to revisit my must have list. I’m excited to see the glass roof in Mountainside. That will help me decide cabana or glass.

Yeah I know what you mean, but since I've had a glass roof in my last two vehicles I'm ready to open things up! Team Cabana all the way.

It's funny that you're on the opposite perspective in that you've always been able to take your top off, (I'm referring explicitly to your Jeep lol) so I guess the saying you always want what you don't have has some truth to it.

What's funny though is I did not even realize Mountainside had a glass roof. I've been so hype focused on the cabana I can't believe I didn't even notice. I'm sure there are pros and cons to both but after having a full glass roof if there is no retractable cover it sucks in the summer, but if you have to put a shade over it, then what's the point?

Hold up: Actually looking at the latest pic it looks like there is room for a retractable cover. I doubt we'll get confirmation this early though.

I have a “glass roof” in a sense. I run year round something called Clearlidz. You take the two panels off over the two front seat and replace it with this. So now I’m thinking easy to open. To take those panels off they are heavy. You have to have a place to store them, etc. I just want to be able to push a button if I’m going that route.

I didn't know they made these. It looks really similar to what the Hummer EV has. It's a cool idea that offers the best of both worlds for Jeeps. Pretty cool indeed.

They are very cool, just makes the inside even louder and they don’t seal real well on the sides. If the wind is blowing just right I end up with snow blowing into my car.
