Why the F would VW pursue this. They are cutting costs every where, cutting models and VWAG freaking owns Scout so now they are going to double up on a product line. Big Scout can and apologies now but what a stupid idea. What VW needs to do is bring back the VW rabbit/cabrio and own a segment. Every girl who was cool in HS had a cabrio and every guy wanted to date said girl. Take the Golf, chop the top and develop a version men and women both like and Every HS kid begs to have at age 16. That’s how you redefine image. Leave the trucks to Scout, Toyota and the American big 3

Depends on the segment. Full size that's a hard no however I see potential for smaller trucks where foreign brands have had good success. Keep in mind the VW Amarok, the vehicle they'd bring, is based on the Ranger and is built at a Ford factory in South Africa so it's theoretically just as competent as a Ranger.

Do I think they'd succeed? I could see reasonable success because essentially the same thing happened in the 90's when Mazda sold a rebadged Ranger as the B Series. If VW offered the Amarok as a value play against the Ranger, maybe offer it at a cheaper price with more equipment and hefty warranty, I think it could work.

Wow-you posted this . Saw it last night and skipped posting. They are close enough to death, SM should offer them a Scout to take their casket from funeral to cemetery (kidding).
This feels like new home buyers that buy a home with a 50 acre cornfield behinds them in Lancaster then get upset when a developer tears it down. I’m sure there is legit concerns but seems like they are making a Scout mountain out of a mole hill

I want to say they're just looking for money, but they're only seeking a million bucks. For 24 acres adjacent to a major commercial site, that's pretty reasonable. Realtor.com estimates the 2+ acres with the house is valued at almost $700k, so surely the remaining 22 acres are worth at least $300k.

Instead of paying an ambulance-chaser, they could've made notably more money by rezoning to commercial and selling the property outright. The lawyers are just taking advantage of old people to make their 25%-33%. Pisses me off.

Not Lancaster specifically but there was a house for sale many years back right on 76, which was already starting its expansion project (it wouldn't hit that area for a few years). Was only a few years until they were forced to move and I doubt they got their money back from the state.

That plot of land is part of the highway now lol.
