Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
That's really sad. I'm hoping Scout goes more towards the FJ Cruiser color palette and less towards the Buick color palette. You'll occasionally see a white or silver FJ, but mostly you see colors. Even their black had a LOT of colorful flake in it. Still, there was yellow, an admittedly ugly orange, a regular red, a darker red, a cherry/purple color, a bright blue, a dusty blue, a green, a cream, a tan, and finally towards the end of production, they threw a gray in the mix. More recently, Toyota has thrown some nice colors on higher-end Tacomas and such, but I'm hoping Scout really limits the boring colors. The Scout isn't boring, don't make it look that way.

And don’t lock the fun colors in higher trims only.

I dunno about y’all but even though I am not attending the event in SC, it means new content, photos, videos to scour over!!!!

Feel like nothing new on YouTube in the last few months or so!!!!

So I’m excited!!!!

So then we’re back to price not being the actual differentiator. We'll be paying the same amount either way (barring the very, very few people who actually find a way to get an actual lower price, not just a feel-good price from a dealership).

Given that the prices aren’t going to be better, I’d much, much rather shop online, talk to experts in the forums, make my choices, order the car, have it delivered to my home, and start driving. Instead, dealerships are forcing us through legislation to go through them for no benefit to consumers at all. I’ve never met a salesperson who knew more about the vehicle I’m interested in than I do, and I’ve never met a salesperson who knew more about the vehicle than my not-car-people family members. I’ve never felt the work done at a dealership was worth the cost. I’ve never felt the dealership was on my side in a dispute with the manufacturer.
Preach sister!!!!
I am an avid researcher when it comes to anything of a decent sized purchase…. Golf clubs, new vehicle, vacation resort… etc
I ordered the new JL model Wrangler from the factory (at a dealership tho) and knew everything I wanted before they were even on the lots yet. Sales guy had no clue. I even knew of a mega dealer in Virginia offering a discount and got my dealership in NY to match it.

Do you think it will be more of a press event for social media? It sounded like to me it was more for res holders, current employees, and potential future ones.

I’m guessing not higher trims but I suspect only 3 or 4 colors will be standard and rest will be the $595, $895, $1195 extras and I think that is fair. Most manufacturers are doing that and some literally offer 2 standard then rest as upgrades. Gotta make money somewhere and 2 and 3 stage paints cost money to do

Honestly it doesn’t even matter. So many people will be recording stuff and taking pictures. A lot of you tube channels have reservations also, and they will want content for clicks. If not then I have all of you fine people to share here.

Oh I fully expect to pay for those colors. Just please don’t make them
$2500 like some Rivian colors.

Kind of funny - I don't think I ever purchased a vehicle from a company that had an extreamly limited color choice. Seems to be a newer thing - especially a newer EV company thing. But I do know that car companies are extreamly good at market segmentation - a trick of extracting every last dollar from customers. It does not surprise me that paint color would also be used. About the only times companies I have purchased from have limited colors is on fleet vehicles - and those probably have very limited trim and options as well. But I always considered that a discount on fleet rather than a premium on the consumer vehicles.

It would be great if it’s announced as a hybrid or an EV and watch the collective mind loss, even though they’ll complain regardless once the design is shown, since people always complain
