Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I know people say they love KEI trucks, but I haven’t seen much enthusiasm for the TELO, which is just an American made KEI BEV.

Really hope they succeed. Would be a perfect vehicle for folks who live in the city but want to do truck things.
The double-cab, 5-foot bed makes the Telo worse than the F-150 for hauling cargo. A proper kei truck has at least a 6-foot long bed.

The Telo needs to have an option for a single-cab with an 8-foot bed. The midgate nonsense is useless to people who use dirt roads while hauling, and for anyone who has concerns about leaving the vehicle with access to the cab.

If I could configure the Telo as single-cab, 8-foot bed truck, I'd replace the Lightning with it when the time comes.

Mark Rober has some pretty fun YouTube videos - his breakout video was a glitter bomb for porch pirates:

He also has one where he built an American Ninja Warrior course for squirrels. lol

I don't follow or subscribe to keep tabs, but he seems pretty normal as far as YouTube personalities go. He'll probably do a good job explaining things for regular folks like the post says.

Touché. But, isn't Telo still a bit like Alpha Motors? Still looking for backers. Really cool website and designs and that is about it? I am genuinely asking. I have not read up on Telo very much.
The website claims production begins in late 2026.
I can't say whether or not they will though.

if I'm remembering correctly, they are subbing out the manufacturing of the telos to another company. Pretty much when a company says that it means they have a 25% chance of success.

If I'm remembering correctly, I think its Aria Group

I like the Telo. Just a bit small as a brand new vehicle. I like the older Kei cars

Subbing out manufacturing either means an extreamly low number will be made at custom shops, they are looking to sell out the design to someone who will actually produce it, or they will have it stolen when they are forced to send manufacturing to China.

But honestly, just having a plant does not mean success - Elio technically had a plant, but never the money to put equipment in it. Kind of felt it was simply a way to get a contract on the property, never to actually build vehicles at it.
