We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

    Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Let's all take a breath here. Scout is following the Tesla/Rivian path of large and expensive vehicles first, smaller and cheaper vehicles second. So if the first offerings are too large and/or expensive, you'll just need to be patient.

Or I just buy from a different manufacturer. I’m not a loyalist. Never have been, never will be. A brand needs to earn my cash. And a too-wide SUV has to be a winner in every other category to earn it, if it even does. I don’t owe any company my patience. I may choose to have patience for my personal reasons, but Scout knew on the day of the reveal that people were concerned about the width of the Traveler.

I also care a lot less about styling than function. So if we have the money when a competitor comes out with an affordable, 70-75-inch wide, off-road capable SUV BEV, and it meets our other requirements, we’ll probably buy it, almost regardless of the brand, and almost regardless of the looks.

An R2 purchase is possible, but its UX is my biggest concern. There’s not much else out there that’s even close.

We’ll wait because there’s nothing that meets the need, but I’m not holding my breath for Scout in particular. If they release something before we’ve purchased our next vehicle, great; if not, then oh, well.

I'd hope their theoretical future smaller SUV would be narrower. I don't wheel really anymore, but slot canyons are difficult on anything full size, as you're just sooooo wide.

I also presume the Traveler/Tera share the C pillar forward, for simple cost reasons. But for the Traveler, it does have the potential to give it a huge interior for its length, which is could also be helpful for others (honestly part of the reason the bench seat is sort of appealing, as its full size truck width), but I can see how that would also be a turnoff for anyone looking for an "actual trail" offroader.

My use case is closer to "trailhead offroading" these days, so the width isn't as big of a deal for me, but I totally get it.

To be sure, I don’t think my use-case is everybody’s, nor maybe even anybody else’s.
It’s one of the reasons I’m not afraid of looking at the cost and issues with doing an electric conversion of an old 1990s Landcruiser.

As a side note, can we get away from the trend of "lets motorize the charger cover door"?
I get the idea, and request, however I hate the charge port door on my car and the SilveradoEV you have to push it in for the popper to open then you can grab the door and open it, then you have to press it back in to close the popper, I wanna push it and it just open then close fully when I push it to
