Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Just glancing at that Dodge - it does not look like it's made to do truck stuff (but what should I expect from a Chicago show). But sure, most trucks are probably sold to people who don't do truck stuff (or at least the truck stuff I grew up with). Low profile tires, mediocre ground clearance at best. I would tear it to pieces just driving across my ranch (not talking "offroading", just getting from point A to B on a daily basis)

Most/All new trucks start out looking like that. Give it some time it will look like a proper work truck. 🤣

Big battery deal in the works. Hopefully they get this locked down before the mid-terms. Political headwinds could complicate this quickly.

Hyundai Scout deal
Great article looks very promising. Especially the part about building the battery plant in SC near Scouts assembly plant. I am a bit skeptical about Mobis meeting job-one numbers though. "The supply of battery system assemblies [BSA] to Scout Motors is scheduled to start in early 2028,”

This also makes sense because Hyundai's US EV factory is outside Savannah. Not next-door-close, but close enough to aid in their own supply logistics.

Hyundai Scout deal
This is surprising. We've been told VW's PowerCo in Canada would be supplying the batteries. Perhaps tariffs prompted Scout to explore other options? Not being ready to deliver batteries until 2028 would be disappointing though.

Hi @Jamie@ScoutMotors. We have an article alert. Any truth to this before we all run with this info? Thanks!

Hyundai Mobis is an OEM under the Hyundai Corporate conglomerate. It could very well be a deal to use them as a battery manufacturer with Scout's branding, without any involvement from Hyundai's automobile division.
Edit- On further digging, Hyundai Mobis is a part of their automotive division, but they are primarily an OEM supplier.

Hyundai Scout deal
Hyundai is a Huge Mega Vertical Integration Corporation. They have a lot of companies. From Truck Trailers to Shipping Containers to Cars to Steel to Pretty much anything a car company can vertical integrate to lower costs.

BSA; An integrated unit from Hyundai Mobis containing the battery pack, Battery Management System (BMS), cooling, and electronics, designed for high-performance EVs.

What I know is that Hyundai uses LG Energy Solutions and SK On both have factories here in the USA. And they also have 800v architecture. A huge part Scout needs to avoid the tariffs. Since I believe most EVs in the US use American Made Batteries. PowerCo is probably too far away for Scout to start production anywhere close to there late 2027 start that they want.
