Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
If it's being built in Mexico, I would guess a modified version of the EA888 or EA211 sans turbo. I also have concerns about using DI only.
I still think it will be an existing engine design like the VW 4 cylinders currently made in Mexico, but either they will be built in South Carolina at the main factory or somewhere in the US to avoid any possible issues from tariffs etc. Also would like it to have port injection but I only know Toyota makes engines with both port and direct injection. So the range extender is likely only direct because of in the podcast it being mentioned it would be a high output N/A 4-cyl and direct injection allows for more power then port.

It takes time and expense to build an engine plant. In the short term, it's easier to just pay tariffs on something made in Mexico. Tariffs come and go.
Volkswagen does make engines with both port and direct fuel injection. The EA888 4-Cylinder in my 2019 Golf R was sold in Europe with both direct and port injection, but not in the United States.

Tire Discounters Opens EV Service Outlet

Tire Discounters Inc., one of the country’s largest tire dealerships, has opened a concept store that offers a full range of electric and hybrid vehicle services.

The outlet – officially called TD/EV by Tire Discounters – is located in the Cincinnati, Ohio, suburb of Loveland and was created to fill what the dealership considers to be a “void” in the automotive aftermarket.

Wow, yeah-that would certainly fit the bill. I remember seeing that as one of the European engine options. Is it available in U.S. or import from Germany?
I’m not sure it’s used stateside at the moment but it certainly is in the rest of the world. It is a relatively simple engine as far as anything modern goes. I read it was created with developing countries in mind as it is so simple and reliable. Simple and reliable sound like Scout to me!

When I looked this wasn’t being manufactured in the region…however I agree that would fit the bill!

Skoda took over the development of all the EA211 engines. So i guess it would be coming from where they make their engines. Unless its still making it in Mexico.
The 1.5 in the Taos is made in Mexico. It's on the EA211 family. They should be able to make a suitable engine there.

The story makes you think. I hope any Scout Motors digital key solves some of the pitfalls of a phone key system discovered by a Rivian owner.

Is there a better way to keep the car running for passengers without leaving your phone behind?

Cool they do this. Great way to share the products while wooing the neighbors to keep them happy that SM is listening to their concerns.
If you are local it sounds like a great opportunity to see them up close and personal-they are certainly worth seeing!

I hadn't seen this. Thanks for sharing it! If the universe does not interfere with my stated intentions, I will try to head over Saturday, and report back.
