Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
General question here......but given that we're into 2026 now and production is supposed to start next year, is there an ECD for Final Specs on the two models? They must have some idea of what they are by now if they're going to produce something next year.
Not that I am aware of. I think more than the basics are figured out, but not packaging and even what a launch edition should include.

The cultish behavior coming from some Rivian owners is starting to become concerning. We don’t need to celebrate even the rumors of failure of innovative companies. The Rivian is entirely outside of the price range of most people in the US, so it makes no sense for their customers to think a delay of a lower-priced “competitor” is a good thing for them.

A true Rivian cultist would be more distraught by potential Scout delays, since the success of their partnership is a key component to them ever seeing green.

I think they are also forgetting that VW is keeping them afloat through the Scout partnership and infusing billions into their company.
People get that way over “their brand” my brother and I had 2001 GM 1500s I had a Silverado and he had a GMC he acted like they completely different and like his truck was better for some reason even though they almost the same truck

Rivian would be insolvent if VW wasn't interesting in their IP for Scout.

Except a person with the mental acuity to stop and think that through wouldn’t be a cult member…. That’s one of the reasons cults work so well. From the outside, they’re obviously counter to reality and logic, but people get so emotionally attached to an identity that they stop thinking clearly.

Well, Rivian owners are the worst! LOL.

I'm happy you're not conflating a "sub-reddit thing" with all Rivian owners, b/c I don't even have a clue what they are talking about over there, or why they would think that would be a good thing - particularly given the JV and other more obvious reasons for driving more competition into the free markets!

Oh, no, it’s not all Rivian owners. Just a sad subculture.

This particular issue isn’t with Rivian owners, but those that overlap with redditers, they tend to lock in on “their thing” and make their personality

Honestly I think it's mostly vapid idiots that are holding Rivian stocks and think this will boost R2 sales.

I would not be surprised to find this on a Rivian someday.

Actually - I would be VERY surprised to see something like that on a Rivian TBH.

Also, don't forget that there a bunch of Rivian owners here with Scout reservations who would actually love to see BOTH companies succeed.

Even though I own an R1T, I see myself personally as having more Scout DNA and aligning well with the Terra. Not knocking my R1T either - it has been the best truck I have ever owned, and I have owned a lot of them!

And I hope the R2 is wildly successful so we get that Trader Joe’s I’m longing for.
