For the peopleLike how you have the backpack with your patch in the background.
That’s my hang up. I like the smaller scale but the price is just too highExactly. I had zero interest in any LC since they moved from the J80 series to the J100 series and later. Those were all too big and too expensive for us. This new model is finally something worth looking at again. It’s still expensive, though.
From what I remember when Toyota showed off that Land Cruiser concept in Japan the BEV was going to be more urban cruiser like. I don’t foresee them doing the whole rugged off road of the current 250 Series. If the Land Cruiser BEV were in the same cost class as the Scout, and looked similar enough to today’s Land Cruiser, it would be a definite top competitor in my spreadsheet. The LC is a bit skinnier and otherwise has similar dimensions as the Traveler.
Also, it’s hard to complain that their current main page advertising photos are literally from my backyard and in places I’ve played.

It appears that China is in the process of banning pop out door handles. There were reportedly several instances in China when door handles failed to pop out after an accident, hampering rescue efforts and leading to fatalities.I knew I didn’t like those door handles.
When I first saw a Tesla with a flush door handle that’s exactly what I thought. There’s no way I’m buying anything like that.It appears that China is in the process of banning pop out door handles. Better late than never. ALL new electric vehicle should do this, some already are. What is cool is it is built into the vehicle, some use smart chargers. This seems handy.

Rivian Commercial Delivery Van Hits Bring a Trailer Auction
A rare chance to snag a Rivian Commercial Delivery Van popped up on Bring a Trailer, where bidding has already reached $33,500 at the time of writing. Rivian normally only sells these vans directly to fleet owners through its website, so this might be one of the only ways for an individual buyer...riviantrackr.com
Brightdrop is struggling:I would like to see a head to head with these compared to the GM electric work vans.
Sales is one aspect, but I mean in terms of overall specs and features.Brightdrop is struggling:
- 2024: 1,529 units were sold, significantly behind Ford's 12,610 E-Transit and Rivian's 13,243 units.
- First Half of 2024: Sales reached 746 units.
- I checked one out at the auto show. It has some nice features. Amazon has purchased 12 Brightdrops to see how they perform.
It will definitely come to market. It's a hot segment. Whether it comes to market on schedule or is any good is subject to debate.
Maybe other areas are different, but where I'm at peak hours are 4-9PM weekdays which is pretty easy to remember so we just schedule accordingly. That said, having to just plug in the car when you get home and not think about rate structures at all is a nice feature to have running in the background and I could see becoming a standard/must-have feature for customers down the road. This seems handy.
