A typical gas car driven the average 14k miles a year costs about $1800/year just for fuel.
A typical EV driven the average 14k miles a year, recharging at home only, costs about $615/year for charging.

Gas prices and residential electricity prices are highly variable, though.

Solar is fantastic. Not only do we not have much of an electric bill, we have the option not to have an electric bill at all (right now we use the grid as an expensive battery but we may go off-grid entirely if they keep raising base fees). I am also able to be entirely protected from the greed of these monopolistic utility corporations.

When you calculate outcomes on the fly you are really doing math. It's instinctive.

My understanding was so many owners had fits they stopped it. I haven’t seen any complaints about it since that initial article.

And yes, Scout don’t do this. Don’t require subscriptions for heated seats, etc either.
