From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.
Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.
How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Anyone else happy that Scout Chose Rivian to work with instead of Tesla? And im talking about technology wise not politics. Like i just saw a picture of the r2 chassis that thing looks so clean and easy to work with compared to a tesla. Like Rivian truly has it down ti a science now
Im most excited about the software itself. Its pretty mature at this point and will save Scout a lot of money in research and development if they were starting from the ground up.

!I at least hope that if there are price increases, that reservation holders get things in at some earlier announced pricing (sort of like what Rivian ended up doing after their il-fated "lets charge more... oops, all our reservation holders are pissed, lets give it to them for what we said we would for the early reservation holders"... although I don't think they did that on purpose).
The forum thing felt like a rumor floating around here when I joined, but I didn't see an actual deadline/detail on that until just now.
Although, looking at this now, I see that I probably don't qualify. I did get my reservation in on Oct 25th. I am a forum member... but joined on Oct 27th (took me a minute to find this after the reveal).
UX video coming out very soon. CMF is likely after that.

Also @Jamie@ScoutMotors when should we be expecting an email about summer weather testing? Or really an email?
Nothing to report on Summer testing. We have onging testing, but nothing new to share publicly. New reservation holder (and anyone that signed up for more info through our website) emails will start going out in the next two weeks. We just recently moved everything to a new system and communication will improve quite a bit.
If we are a reservation holder do we also need to sign up for more info through the website or will we get everything that’s emailed just being a reservation holder?
If you are a reservation holder, a Scout Community forum user, or someone who just signed up to get more information, you will receive emails from the new system.
Honestly, since I have not driven either a Tesla or a Rivian - I can not fairly comment. Before politics got in the way, Tesla had a pretty good reputation in the EV community, and Rivian appears to have a good one now.
That said, Scout is partnered with Tesla (most manufacturers who sell in the US are) - and without that partnership I honestly would not be considering them at all. Scout has said they will be using NACS and will be able to use the Tesla charging network. Tesla is the most comprehensive charging network near me. I may not plan on using Superchargers often, but I do want to be able to when needed.
That’s not correct. NACS is an open SAE standard, it doesn’t require any association with Tesla. Using Tesla chargers might require some sort of approval/agreement, but there’s no “partnership” with them that I’m aware of. Technically, there’s no reason that Tesla should require an agreement in place (no other charging networks do), but that’s just Tesla throwing their weight around. By the time scouts are on the road, Tesla networks will probably not be as important as they are currently as other networks expand and start switching to NACS.
I don't think this is correct either.
NACS wasn't an SAE standard, until the IRA NEVI bill passed, and it was going to give out federal money for charging infrastructure. But the catch was that the charging infrastructure had to be able to charge any vehicles, which Tesla couldn't do at the time.
So after years (~10yrs) of being a proprietary Tesla connection type, they announced a name change (NACS), and made it an SAE standard. Which it now has been for almost a year.
Also, Tesla has had to add support for other brands on its charging network. Just because the plug fits, doesn't mean it can charge. There has been support added for different brands on the supercharger network, pretty consistently for the past 2 years. That said, I imagine that Scout will have support added before launch on the supercharger network? Maybe through the VAG association?

At this point though, NACS is more or less the defacto standard in NA. Which, while I don't like how/why Tesla suddenly decided to make their design open... the net result is... good.
It was dumb that we had 4 charging standards floating around in the US (NACS, J1772, CCS, CHADeMO). And every EV owner has to have this bag of adapters.
Gas vehicles figured out they just needed one gas filler size (well, one for gas, one for diesel, but you get the idea) forever ago. So it's good that we're standardized, but it will take a bit before the "bag of adapters" isn't an important road trip companion for EV owners.
Why won't my LaserDisc player play my DVDs?!?! Aargh! haha.
Better yet, why won’t my HD DVD play in my Blue Ray player. We went laser disc-HD DVD-Blue Ray. Rebuying the same movies over and over.
