What did the rep say that indicated the N&D options?

I’m hoping she was misinformed.

But everything we noticed she mentioned there will be an “upcharge”, and “this is the direction the industry is going”.

Now I’m not sure how she could possibly know, when the next sentence that came out of her mouth talked about how so much wasn’t finalized, and also they were forging their own path as it relates to product. (Very confusing).

It seems like it will be packaged like every other manufacturer (per mod).

But it definitely was discouraging in person.

I would much rather have each option separated out so I can remove the ones I don’t want to pay for.
I consider nickel-and-diming to be adding in unrelated items as a required purchase to get the thing you want:
"Oh, you want the rear tire carrier? You also have to purchase the glass roof."

If a thing is put on your vehicle, you’re going to pay for it.

Giving the customer the actual price for each item and the option not to buy it is the opposite of nickel-and-diming in my mind.

I agree with what you're saying, and I think we all want that. But I am sure it's going to come down more to part reduction and simplifying manufacturing rather than offering a-la cart optioned builds.

Certain things like the roof and bench seat need to be independent of any other options. Oh this gives me an idea.

I agree with this! I don't need a tech package when I want 2 of the 4 things. But if I can pick all the options, then that's what I want. From the sounds of it, this production line is incredible and modular when the basis of all the vehicles sit on the same platform.

I agree but I also struggle with this. Nothing involving a hole in the roof impacts bench or bucket seats. And these plants (having toured BMW) are all FIFO and completely automated so it can be done individually, it just helps the profits for packaging things. And I get that and know it is industry standard and if it makes sense (as we’ve discussed before) then fine. A cold weather package makes sense, generally speaking but dual color leather seating with tire carrier is just a forced option which likely will upset a lot of buyers.

There's a few more things I could see them making optional.

- Aux switches
- Rear center vents
- They could do different towing levels. One option just with the 2" hitch, one heavier-duty.
- They could make the rear-roll down on the Terra optional (I hope not)
- Exterior Lighting
- Wireless charging locations
- Any number of USB-C charging locations
- Fold-down back center arm-rest
- Heated seats front and/or back
- Ventilated seats front and/or back
- That pull-out tray they showed in the dash
- Memory seats vs power seats for driver and/or passenger
- Sound systems

...I'm sure there's more.

You know I really appreciate my husbands little convertibles he has purchased over the years. Very few options.

Heck his S2000 only came as a manual. You don’t know how to drive a manual transmission, learn or don’t buy it.

Truthfully all any of us would have to do is look at any other full-size truck offered and see the huge amount of possible configurations. I think simplicity would be better, but that also likely means more packaging.

They were giving away a patch as you walked into the stadium. Then in the experience center they had the Traveler and Terra pins.

I did manage to get one of each pin, but there was some confusion. She wanted me to sign up for emails, but I told her I already have a reservation and am on the forum so I get all the emails already. She really didn’t seem to know what to do with me at that point and since I had bought t-shirts and the stuffed Scout dogs and kept insisting I already got the emails she let me have the pins.

I really hope we get more patches and pins in Scout Supply. Oh and new stickers would be nice as well.

Actually I got some news on this, IDK if it was a slip up or what, but I was drilling one of the poor Team Members pretty hard regarding UI and app functionality and I mentioned that I'm not a button pusher, so I want to use my UI for everything and not have to use the buttons if I don't want to even for the A/C. The response I got was something to the like that I could purchase a tech package if that's what I wanted.

This is potentially good news on two fronts where we could opt for higher tech if we wanted but for those who don't they wont have to deal with it.

I think the biggest problem here is again the wiring. Having to make multiple different wiring harnesses could get pricey and I think it's the leading contributor to the a-la cart build blocking.
