We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. Oddly, I like it on the front, but not on the back, light up or otherwise. At least they're not slapping a 4' wide stamped metal logo across the rear like so many trucks and large SUVs nowadays, so I should quit complaining...
I believe there's steel roof with a liner like normal and a panoramic glass roof like what Rivian has. Though unlike Rivian, I believe there's been some talk about a retractable shade. I'm team panoramic glass. I like it in the Rivian and living in Minnesota I can't do the Cabana top.
for Scout, we are told there will be 3 roof options, full metal roof, or the HUGE glass roof (doesn't open), and the afore mentioned cabana top. Those 3 are going to be options for the Traveler SUV, we know the glass and metal roofs are for sure going to be on the Terra (the Concept Vehicle they have been showing off has the glass roof) but the cabana on the pick-up has not been mentioned, other than in the Scout the America booklet they sent to some early reservation holders
On the Traveler there’s 3. Cabana, solid or glass roof. The Terra has the class roof currently. It would be that.

I think there is an opportunity for a "crew-cab truck manufacturer" like Rivian or Scout to offer an alternative to the glass roof with 3 well-designed, interlocking panels (which would fit into the same space that the Cabana roof would occupy). The panels could be moved into integrated storage slots built directly into the bed of the pick-up. This would satisfy a broader swath of the community wanting a full, open-air removable roof, but also wanting something completely hardened & protected for winter weather, ice, snow, etc. This would also be a good option for those loading stuff onto their roof. My pano glass roof freaks me out a little when it comes to putting stuff on top, so i generally just don't do it and load everything into or over the bed of the R1T.
I could totally see that. There are already companies that do the opposite for Broncos and Wranglers. I have ClearLidz on my Wrangler. Plexiglass panel that fits in the space above the front seats. I bet we will see stuff like that.
I'm Team Glass roof - I have a sunroof in my current car but I almost never open it. I do like the sunlight it lets in though.
That’s where I keep ending up, but then I see that cabana and oh my is it pretty.

when you were sitting in the driver seat, did you notice any off the screen cut off by the top dash or steering wheel?
3 years, used it plenty. Was flawless. I think they learned a ton from the same type of tech on the renegade, which was terrible.
We put a mesh shade full length beneath it and it was a gamechanger. Open top but kept the wind and UV down, very wife and daughter friendly.
I miss that Jeep
We also have to remember that VW is the king of Convertible technology. They have Porsche, Audi, VW. All three sell or have sold convertibles. And I have never heard of complaints about them.
The double T-top roof on the Hummer EV is pretty cool and the panels are small enough to be manageable for one person, a definite consideration for removable panels.
I’m the same way. It would look great with a Tahitian Red Rallye stripe on the Terra.
