Quite a few vehicle manufacturers have Digital and Analog options for the clusters. Let's see what the Scout UX wizards come up with.

In this shot you can see the ribbon speedometer. I know I haven’t seen all the options yet, but I think that would be my default. I just love it.

The familiar throwback analog speedometer was one of the first things I spotted when seeing the interior early on. I hope SM goes as far as carrying over the other gizmos of the original speedometer cluster including the rolling odometer (maybe even leave off the 100,000 digit ), turn signal indicators on the far left and right (called "blinkers" in South Carolina), brake indicator (that stays on all the time ), etc. maybe even fake out the uneven warm back glow of the speedometer when traveling at night.

This is a great homage to the original Scout II's. If they really want to pay tribute, the needle will bounce within a 2-3inch radius.

Hello! I have a question. I was looking at this picture of the tire carrier from Nats. It has this panel on the back. It looks like it could be used to attach things too, however, you have to be able to close it and have it sit against the tailgate. Any idea what this is for forum friends?

If this is what you mean, then yes. Here’s pictures I took at Nats showing just that.

So to open the back with the tire carrier. You swing the tire carrier out of the way. Then you open the big top lift gate. And then you can open the little bottom part of the lift gate.

Do you mean while driving? That’s a big lift gate. I would think that would be a safety hazard to drive with that top part up. While stationary it’s split and fine, but in motion I wouldn’t try that. But that’s just me.

The latch for the spare tire holder is built into the lift gate.

Would still be great if just the glass popped up on small struts to be able to haul larger things. That one advantage the 4-runners have

I would rather see it “roll down” and disappear into the lift gate itself. That would keep it safer for when you stick some things through the window.

Here’s another picture we took at Nats. There’s buttons to the left of the steering wheel on the concepts. One looks like it’s for the frunk and one for the gate. Now how that will work to only open part of it versus the whole thing I don’t think we know that yet.

There’s been lots of discussion about wanting the glass to roll down like a 4Runner but the consensus seems to be it won’t be able to. From what I remember reading the split gate doesn’t leave enough room for the window to go down and the curve of the gate would prohibit it as well.

I would rather see it “roll down” and disappear into the lift gate itself. That would keep it safer for when you stick some things through the window.

I don’t disagree but seeing it in person there just is no way. I mean-try hard enough and it could be possible but then you need another motor vs just a flip up. I don’t see it happening in any way but sure would be nice. Guess the cabana top and roof rack will give me multiple options
