What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
As an owner of an electric SUV for a year, I would like to see a seamless digital experience. Some sort of point to point driving for road trips, phone as a key, integrated tech. Otherwise I prefer function over form. Of course real offroad capability and decent range. My fear is increasing costs trying too hard to align with legacy expectations.
Welcome!
I have faith in Scout Motors and that the team is going to pleasantly surprise us by holding the line on the cost…. We all expect the first models out the door will be higher trim levels as all new manufacturers do - but will be DTC which should make them affordable. The $60k models will eventually be produced…

I wonder if the $60K models will exist at launch but won't be sold. For example, if you took the Mountainside and stripped all the fancy stuff off it (wheels, tires, fancy interior, etc.) I bet the "base" price is $60K or thereabouts. If that's the case, they could start selling those "base" models pretty darn quickly.

Right there with you. When I saw Mountainside, I thought hmmm 18” wheel with a 33” street tire, change out the interior to not be as “fancy” and you got yourself a base Traveler.

I’m confident SM knows that they need to have a $60k base. I agree we may not get it at launch, but I’m hoping the top trim isn’t the first to market. How about they start middle and then go to base and then high. I’m also hoping it’s only 3 or 4 months in between trim launches.

Honestly I will be shocked (but pleasantly surprised), if Scout is able to launch with the "cheaper" version. However, given the track record of all of the other EV start ups, it's not likely to happen. Profit is the name of the game and it's a lot easier to go in that direction by releasing the high dollar models first, much like Rivian is doing with the R2 right now.

This method has always perplexed me though because I would think it would be better to sell higher volume cheaper than lower volume top tier. Maybe someone who is more adept with economics can explain why one method is better than the other.

I'm on the record as saying I want the highest trim possible. I understand, however, many don't feel that way. So I'm with you: the shorter the time between trim launches, the better. The more Scouts Scout can get into the hands of consumers the better for everyone!

This might be a simplified version, but here's how I look at it. Let's say the base model gets Scout $100 profit (that's the key: profit) and the high-end trim gets it $1,000 per vehicle. They'd have to sell 10 base Scouts to get the same profit as one top trim model. I would think it's easier to sell one car than 10. It's easier to sell two rather than 20 and so on. At launch, there's a lot of excitement. It's probably the time manufacturers stand the best chance of selling the most high-end trims.

These manufacturers are also creating things they're getting paid paid for things that don't cost them anything on these high-end trims. Rivian does this. Think autonomous driving, performance packages, etc. Those things are already in your Scout. You just have to have Scout toggle them on. Now that $1,000 profit might be on the same base vehicle as the $100 profit one. For the record, I don't like this. If I'm going to buy a car, I want to buy the car and everything at the front end. This is probably why they do it, but I get FOMO and have to buy whatever they release later. :cautious:

I also don't understand the idea behind allowing people to "upgrade" their trucks later. That seems counter-intuitive to me. Take Rivian's "performance" package for example. I think they charge $5K for that. You can get it later or at purchase. Let's say I wanted it now but didn't get it at purchase (I didn't and still don't want it). Wouldn't Rivian make more money off the profit on the new car I'd buy to get the package I don't have rather than just the profit on me upgrading to the performance package? At least to me, they'd sell another car and have the car profit plus the performance profit.

Won’t take much but guaranteed the first batch will be fairly loaded. Best option would be the launch then do mid and base for a bit and when the flow is smooth, introduce the higher ends that are more complex. Gives SM time to grow into things

Scout has said the trucks will have level 2+ on driving assist.
This is great news, it doesn't have to be the best but would be nice on roadtrips and commutes. Are you able to find any links to where this has been mentioned. My understanding is that Rivian is providing the UI to Scout, but not necessarily sharing their Autonomy. If this is the case, or they licensed from Tesla it would be huge (although more likely from Rivian with the current investment).

I know @Jamie@ScoutMotors has told us this fairly recently. You might find it faster than me by searching for 2+ in the comments. Jamie is the one who mentioned it.

I started a thread for some answers we get from @Jamie@ScoutMotors and his answer about level II+ in in here.

I need to remember to add answers we get from him. I’m slacking.
