I headed to the local baseball game today and had a chance to stop by Scout Motors’ Columbia Professional Office. They had the Terra and the architectural scale model of the plant on display (I’m sure it’s been there for a while).
The pickup is much larger than I imagined, which is a good thing. If I were to compare it to current models, it’s larger than a midsize truck but smaller than a full-size truck in terms of width. Its height and length, however, are on par with a full-size pickup.
One thing I was late to finding out is that locals who placed reservations on day one will take delivery first, and they’ll even be able to pick up their vehicles directly from the factory.
The foam model looked great and really highlighted several design details. You can really see the aerodynamics if you know what you’re looking at. Behind the rear doors, the grab handles appear to incorporate a flying buttress-inspired design.
The bed also sits right at chest level for me (I’m 5’11”). I’m interested to see the Traveler in person because the Terra impressed me enough that I could be convinced to switch my reservation.
