I’ve had a flat bottom wheel and I actually like it equally if not better and I’m a free spin back to center user and it always worked fine and I had no issues
Good to hear. I have never had one.I’ve had a flat bottom wheel and I actually like it equally if not better and I’m a free spin back to center user and it always worked fine and I had no issues
You could do what I do and rely on left-hand palm action. I tend to steer a lot that way.One thing that popped-up again for me, after seeing an IG post yesterday (link), is the steering wheel shape. And I found a few other discussions that have all since quieted, so figured I'd try & get some activity here.
The Squircle shape concerns me as someone who has only had fully circular wheels before & who routinely lets the wheel spin back to neutral with a loose grip. Seems to be the squircle would be bumpy. Also looks larger than I'm used to, but that could just be an optical illusion.
Ioniq 5 has a similar wheel shape and I don't even notice it.
What I do notice is the Ioniq is the only car I've ever driven where the steering wheel interferes with viewing the dash display. I don't know why, I'm guessing something about the electronic display, my height, and not spending time fiddling with the steering wheel position has left me with a speedometer that is inconvenient obscured by the steering wheel. So I look at the speed on the heads up display instead.

I believe humans adapt to these things faster than many responses would lead one to believe. I am mostly concerned that the body on frame design with a full BEV battery is off-road durable, the range is 300 mi/charge or greater, all wheel drive/full time 4x4 like a Land Cruiser is standard, able to power tools via 120/240 outlets, able to charge from as many sources as possible, and a maintenance schedule that is so infrequent it will leave all of us scratching our heads, and happy.Yeah, I think a flat bottom would be an easier transition maybe? Definitely looks less disruptive to the steering habits I've formed over 30 years! I think it's the flat top AND flat bottom that makes it seem like it will be a strange experience.
There's been very little I've disliked about the designs (or been concerned with might be more accurate), so since this pops into my brain when I look at the interiors figured I'd throw it out into the universe to see what happens. lol
Yeah, the range, durability/dependability, tech + physical, styling, etc. is what attracted me to the cars (Traveler specifically) and until they tell us different I assume that hasn't changed. Which is why I have to nitpick about things like steering wheel shape. HahahaI believe humans adapt to these things faster than many responses would lead one to believe. Welcome!1. Power folding mirrors (to fit into the garage easier)
2. Flat folding rear seats
3. No idle start/stop
4. 360 cameras
5. heated and AC seats (not critical)
6. able to control AC from App. Not just turn on but control the AC settings. (not critical)
7. Decent Audio system/speakers
Just realized that there is no need for idol stop start in an electric car. Obviously this will be my first one.1. Power folding mirrors (to fit into the garage easier)

You are in good company. There are many of us new to EV. which one did you reserve?Just realized that there is no need for idol stop start in an electric car. Obviously this will be my first one.
Traveler with harvesterYou are in good company. There are many of us new to EV. which one did you reserve?
We should have the option with the harvester to go 100% EV with zero engine recharge? Feature might come in handy if the I.C.E. generator does introduce a little noise and vibration when tuning on/off. I can always hear my neighbors I.C.E. cars drive by in the early mornings; but, don't really hear the EVs other than a very faint "UFO" sound (two Tesla and Hyundai EVs).Just realized that there is no need for idol stop start in an electric car. Yes it looks like we will. It’s either the videos from 2025 CES or the Jay Lenos Garqge episode (I forget which) but they showed 3 modes. EV only, Harvester only or let the car decide what to do.We should have the option with the harvester to go 100% EV with zero engine recharge? We aren’t 100% sure where it will go. The consensus is it could possibly fit underneath but we don’t think a 35” will fit.Thank you. A couple questions for the community. It a few videos they show a "go box" where the spare tire would go. Where do you think the spare tire would go if you got this option?
Also I wonder if there will be an option to see the colors and fabrics in person once it comes time to order since there are no dealerships. I would drive to SC
I agree. Doubt it would fit underneath. Probably not a feature I would get especially if I had to leave the spare behind. We aren’t 100% sure where it will go. The consensus is it could possibly fit underneath but we don’t think a 35” will fit.
As for seeing colors, it’s anticipated they will have have some sort of retail locations around the country similar to Rivian.
I would drive to SC too!
Welcome to the crazy train and thanks for sharing your thoughtsI'm dying in anticipation btw! I have a few comfort and safety ideas I would like to pass along and welcome replies.
1) Exclusive feature different from any other manufacturer.. A top mounted 360 panoramic camera that you can view in the rear view mirror (AKA Cop Watcher), dash screen or center entertainment screen. Something else cool that could pair with this is a snapshot and video option.
2) Maps on the dash screen with optional all time blind spot cameras on either side. I believe the center console should be mostly for entertainment and comfort control.
3) Complimentary lifetime Standard Maps and Off-road Trail Maps
4) My GMC has massage seating and its ridiculously nice
5) Fender flairs with wide wheels and tires or wheels that have a wider offset (wider more aggressive stance)
6) Interior Beverage/Snack cooler
There's more but this is a good start![]()
