Ideal Small Sized Vehicle

Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim.     We are Scout Motors.
Something a little bigger than the TJ Wrangler and smaller than the current model. I would buy a 2 door personally, but would expect a 4 door to sell more units. Soft top and/or removable hardtop. 250 mile range.

I honestly believe there is a market for an EV Wrangler/Bronco. People don't buy that type of vehicle expecting it to be great at road tripping or towing. People buy them as a fun vehicle to drive around town. Getting 250 miles is fine. Hell, the gas light in my Wrangler comes on around 210-220 miles.

The problem with a 3 row will be the battery size requirement. People will expect it to drive as far as a comparable gas powered vehicle. That isn't range anxiety. Its simply expectations of a class of vehicle. My Grand Cherokee has a 450-500 mile range. I can fill the tank in less than 10 minutes and then drive another 450-500. I can't imagine the amount of battery that would be required to move a Suburban 500 miles. How long would that much battery take to charge? How much would that vehicle weigh? Cost?

I just don't see the 3 row as being feasible with current tech. I do think you could make a really successful Wrangler/Bronco killer though.

I hear you loud and clear. Kinda feel the same though families with incomes over $125K love a big honking 3-row even if they do t truly need it. My wife included with her slightly smaller honda pilot and just the two of us in the house

Does nobody have a napkin and a ballpoint pen these days to not be able to just chicken scratch out what’s in their head? It doesn’t have to be ready for display in the Met, but it doesn’t always have to be AI-generated. 🤯

In response to the original question, a RAV4 is a decent size for my purposes. The original Scout with four doors would be okay. When you do have passengers, two doors stink. It stinks to climb over a big dumb seat to get into a crummy back seat. I don’t miss that at all.

Agree. I test drove a Defender 90 and it had power seats. My husband said how do you get in the back. There’s a button you push and the seat has to move forward and up, which took forever and then back in place. That right there we both said nope never mind.

I like sketching but it’s hard to upload and share. I did one of a hypothetical scout motors logo a long time ago.

Look at the Cadillac Escalade IQ for the best current comparison. It will do over 460 miles on a full charge with a 205kWh pack. It is the closest comparison to a gas powered full size three row SUV.

My family of 4 had an airport transfer in an Escalade IQ recently. It is very very nice but way too big for my personal purposes. I wonder if a suburban varian way in the cards but shelved? Although Suburbans are super expensive these days too.

I have to assume the final price for a Suburban EV would be very close to the IQs price range and it may not have sold well if people realized they could get the Cadillac with much nicer finishes for only 10K more than a Chevrolet. I think a Traverse EV might sell well but may also cannibalize sales from the Cadillac Vistiq's lower end "Luxury" trim level...

My brother has a vistiq. Pretty nice vehicle.

I got to look at one in person at a recent auto show. It was very well appointed. I really wish GM would transition their Buick brand to EV like they did with China... Buick is killing it with their new designs and price points, I'd gladly take a Buick stylized EV over a Chevy or Caddy EV.

Yeah. Never thought I’d say Buick had good designs but last few years have impressed me
