Ideal Small Sized Vehicle

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Look at the Cadillac Escalade IQ for the best current comparison. It will do over 460 miles on a full charge with a 205kWh pack. It is the closest comparison to a gas powered full size three row SUV.

The tech to make a long range vehicle is here now... The price just isn't accessible to everyone yet.

Edited text and added a table to make it cleaner and add rows of data.

Just because a company can shove enough battery in, doesn't mean the tech is there. The IQ weighs over 9000 pounds compared to the standard Escalade's 6000. Base price is $130k (Motortrends "as tested" vehicle came in at $151k) vs $94k (Your chart appears to error at $77k).

So the electric Escalade is 50% heavier and 40% more expensive. It also takes an estimated 30 minutes of charging to gain 322 miles (10-80%) vs about 5 minutes at a gas station to gain 360 miles (10-100%).

I get it, people love their electric vehicles. The Harvester (and design) brought me to Scout, but I've since updated my reservation to BEV. I'm genuinely looking forward to the switch from gas. But the tech has a long way to go to get cost, weight, and charge time in line with a gas powered vehicle. The smaller the battery pack, the better the math. Hence my comment that at current tech, a Scout 800E coming next makes more sense than a Travelall-E.

Normal gas station fill will take closer to 10-15+ minutes and then add in time to stretch and walk around a little bit. Traveling 400+ miles requires a bit of movement to get blood circulating again... Put it this way, if I travel for 400 miles straight, I'm gonna be stopping for around 30 minutes to fuel up, walk the dogs, and get a little food... The tech is there, the vehicle can road trip and travel long distances and do it fairly quickly when utilizing 400kW charging stations...

What you want is megawatt charging stations and semi-solid state or solid state battery tech to get charge times of 5-10 minutes. Those technologies are coming but we're about 5-10 years out n the North America for those. To get this to the masses, you're looking at closer to 10-15 years to become affordable.
