I would hope that scout takes more of the Rivian approach. Where the majority of the vehicle will be the same across all trim unlike the Silverado where if you take a step down, you get a very plastic vehicle with smaller screens. I also don’t think remote start is much of a thing for EV‘s I could be wrong but the number of them I have configured have never had it as an option. And with app based controls for climate in a lot of modern evs, just seems like it should be the standard on these vehicles even in their base configurations time will tell to be certain however, I hope that scout takes the more consumer friendly route of modern car makers instead of the confusing and “careless” approach from legacy auto makers. This would mean outside of potential battery and motor options. The majority of what would increase the price of these vehicles would mainly be wheels and accessories. Of course, I could see things like heated and ventilated seats with leather also being option options that would increase price if the underbody off-road cameras, make it too production that makes sense as an option but the 360 cameras on vehicles this big should be standard in my opinion and work as dash cam

I’m happy to see others have no issue with a $65k-$90K vehicle as that will help Scout succeed. For me and mine, $60k is a lot to consider spending on a vehicle.
I love cars and trucks of a very wide variety and always have, but the prices are fully unhinged in many cases. $60k out the door would be a hard pill to swallow, but we all know how math works and the final price will be much higher even if tax, title, license, destination, doc fee, etc. are the only items added to a base unit. So is it more like $67k+ base for most locations depending on the tax rate?
Due to this, we have very sadly all but ruled out the dream of replacing both of our family vehicles with a Scout. Maybe one day we can do it once there are some older units on the used market, but we have investments and retirement plans to pursue so we can’t have auto payments dragging those goals down.
We’ve been cutting back and making lifestyle changes to save more in the hopes we’ll be able to cash in a reservation or two, but even at the base price it’ll be a stretch to get one. If it’s $70k-$80k final price once you add an option or two, I don’t see us purchasing which breaks my heart. The initial dream may have to turn into the dream of finding a used unit someday. We want to own Scouts badly and our hopes and enthusiasm are extremely high, but we’re not willing to finance a huge amount in order to make it happen as we don’t want to sacrifice our other goals. It’s a work in progress and hopefully we’ll make it happen, but of course the pricing is our biggest hurdle.
I’m ecstatic that all signs point to Scout Motors putting out a quality product. I can’t wait to see what unfolds in the next two years!

It was really nice ordering my last car since the only options were color, sunroof or not and full-size spare or not. Ventilated seats, etc were standard on all cars, no packages, etc. I'm sure that makes manufacturing simpler!

If you don't mind me asking..... What vehicle manufacturer only has 3 options when ordering?

It is unfortunate that new vehicles cost what they do, especially when you consider out the door depreciation. The only reason I’m willing to consider up to $90,000 for a new vehicle is owning a brand new vehicle is something I’ve been trying to achieve since I was 14 and started saving money. But very few years something would happen since I had older vehicles, 2023 year I started saving again in December, but by February the rear differential went out in my 2001 F-150 so all of that savings went to be a down payment on a 21 Charger, that I swapped a few months later for my 22 BoltEUV I’ve recently started my savings again and have been working 7 days a week to start getting my ducks in row so I can focus on my savings instead of a bunch bills, however I also have some hopeful outside income from land sales if that goes through. And plenty time for savings. Though I hope we learn more good news about the eventual pricing on these soon 60k for just the vehicle becomes a long nicer if it’s not a over stripped out variant of what we have been shown (looking at SilveradoEV WT)

Fully understand that and when you balance other priorities be it necessities or just other desirable activities there is give and take. We are fortunate to have our daughter finishing college in another year so what we’ve been spending monthly will be divided -some for Scout and some for travel (and travel via Scout unless world travel-which we’d like to do some of each). Understand the balance completely.

I can’t answer that number but having owned a lot of Acuras if you look at their configurator there are very few options. Make it so much nicer.
The Supra is that way. 3.0 auto or manual and then you can add a premium package and some of the colors may add a cost. When we got ours there was only an auto no manual yet. So we just had the premium package and that was it.

Then the port added PPF and the dealer added Simonize but I don’t count that as a package or option.

Difference there is that’s a halo vehicle. Most of Toyota’s other models have multi tiers, options, etc….

Since the average new car price is around $50k in 2025, "just under $60k" is "just above the average."

As others have said, if this is an entry level model with crappy seats, steelies and road donuts, de-contented (or pay walled) software ... then I'll probably just keep my Landy.
And that is completely reasonable. I recall Jamie saying it would be a decent starting package. So based on his experience and him saying decent I expect it to be reasonably nice

They tend to do few bigger packages. At least when I was looking at 4Runners that’s what it seemed like. But the thing has 9 different trims. So that’s how they do it instead of having a million packages, they have a million trims.

So, 2 of the last 4 vehicles I purchased were semi-custom. Semi as in I figured out what I wanted, then went from there. With VW, I simply found the closest equipped in stock in Texas (and had to sacrifice several options that I really miss not having now - the higher end options simply were not available in Texas). My F250 started as a custom order, but the dealer found one that was only 1 feature different so we did a dealer transfer (I HAD to get a damn sun roof - which has failed once already and was a $5k repair). Our JLURD was a full costom order - Jeep in their infinite wisdom sold close to -0- D's off lot inventory. It took almost 2 years just to find one (that was already reserved for someone else) to test drive. Then they discontinued the D's due to lack of demand - maybe if they had EVER tried to sell them they would have been more common.

The 4'th was a in stock advertised deal on a JLUR, Price was good, but it ended up missing options that had us get rid of it as soon as we could replace it with the D (we probably would not have done it if it had proximity entry - salesman all but lied to us on that one feature to make the sale, and did lie to us when we realized the feature was missing a couple hours later).

wheelers, dealers and crooks! It will be nice to not have to deal with that anymore.

I think if Scout can get it close to that original advertise of $50K when EV incentives were still a thing. Somewhere around $55 - $56K would be awesome. But even if it's $59K it still isn't a deal breaker. I just want to see what the actual Base Trim will look like, because I know it will not be anywhere close to the concept they've been showing off for the last year+

When people say base or stripped, I keep coming back to the difference in Legacy brands and new brands. While Scout has a legacy for all intents and purposes, this is a new brand. using words like "trim" and "package" carry a certain connotation with them in the auto industry. So here's a visual aid for what I hope to be the case. The difference visually between the lowest $ Silverado EV and the more expensive ones is drastic, compared to the low end of Rivian Vs. a Higher "spec". If Scout acts more like a modern manufacturer, the difference will be the little things, not a night and day difference

I want to vote, but the question is a bit of a logic trap as currently worded.

"Will starting under $60k prevent you from buying?" The problem is that "Under $60k" covers both a $40,000 truck (which I would buy instantly) and a $59,900 truck (which isn't an instant yes).

• If I vote "No" (it won't prevent me), it looks like I’m approving a $59k price tag, when I’m actually hoping for $45k.

• If I vote "Yes", it implies I wouldn't buy a cheap truck, which makes no sense.

This poll is going to get 99% "No" votes because almost everyone wants a price "under $60k." But that doesn't tell Scout whether we want $58k or $45k, and that difference is huge for sales volume.

Can we add a poll with specific brackets?

• Under $45k

• $45k – $55k

• $55k – $65k

• Over $65k

That would give Scout actual useful data on where the demand curve falls.

As others have pointed out, this poll asks us to commit to a price without defining the product. A "Yes" vote implies we are okay with the number, regardless of whether it buys us a bare-bones work truck or a premium machine.
