One Giant Leap Into the World of EV Ownership

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Still awaiting the charge port cover I ordered. It’s taken a little longer than expected to clear customs an make it’s way to my door.

In the meantime time we’ve improvised with an older dish towel draped across the charge door and cord. Held in place with a simple chip clip that we keep on the refrigerator door. It’s working so far. It's little things like this that ICE vehicles don't have to consider as issues. I suppose those with garages don't have to worry either but for those of us that have to park outdoors, keeping the charger door and port clear of ice and snow is a concern...

Hopefully this is being looked at for the final version of Scouts charge ports.
Gee. A problem I honestly nEVer EVer thought about. And here in Florida hope I nEVer experience.

There’s so much snow here today! My husband and I just were out snowplowing and shoveling for half an hour and it’s just too cold!

We've seen that the charge port door is intended to flip upwards, though, would that be enough? We don't get much snow here in Middle Tennessee (though we also garage the car, and the scout might just fit) or at my parents' in Alabama, we've yet to take my car to Illinois in the winter months, so it's never been a thought of mine. I'm genuinely curious, though, if the flip up door isn't enough, what is something scout could do?

On the concept it does flip up. However the concept door is very small and the port and household outlets next to it are likely to be designed differently on the consumer model. I believe scout is just showing us the features they’re planning to have on the vehicle. I anticipate the charge port to be separate from the outlets and the outlets will likely have their own door (especially on the traveler). The Terra’s household outlets will likely migrate to inside the bed.

Of course I’m speculating and we won’t know the actual configuration(s) until sometime next year, likely. So while they finalize the actual design, I do hope some thought has been given to cold weather outdoor charging scenarios. 🙂

I hope the flip-up door stays, and I personally like the exterior power bank and hope the idea of the Power-port stays very similar to how it is now. I hope bed outlets are more optional, and with a 240 (which I would definitely spring for on the rare chance I need it)

The flip-up door wouldn't be enough for our kind of snow/ice, which is often accompanied with high-speed horizontal winds.
