What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
For the Terra, plenty of storage options and a tailgate similar to the Ridgeline. I know there's a frunk, but having additional storage areas under the bed (like Ridgeline) or within the side rails (like RAM) would be amazing. Why more manufacturers don't offer these options is beyond me? The multi-function tailgate is awesome on the Honda Ridgeline and would love to see this on the Terra (assuming no patent issues). Towing packages which I'm assuming will be there along with the great top-down camera views to help facilitate this are awesome.

Welcome!

While I doubt the Terra will have the storage in the side rails like the RAM pickups, I think that storage option would be incredible and I would definitely add that option to my Terra it if they offered it. There must be a good reason that other truck companies don't offer this, and I would guess that reason also applies to the Scouts.

I guess I have more than one. Really want the following:
1. Phone as key with the ability to start the vehicle to be driven by someone without a key.
2. The ability to precondition the cabin using a schedule based on day, time, and location.
3. Matrix headlights.
4. Advanced security system like Sentry Mode from that other car company. Particularly, the feature that allows remote viewing of the cameras.

Welcome to the forum. Out of curiosity-why matrix-just because or you have deeper thinking in your want for them? I like them on Audis but I’m not sure I’d want them on a Scout. So just curious to hear your why?

I have them on my car and I think they’re great, it’s nice on unlit roads where I can still have my side of the road lit up along with the side of the road to help look for deer without having to dip them or blind a car that is oncoming.

So your not saying the different LED’s that can pattern out, etc. for looks. You want the active lights that block out. That I understand. I guess I’m so used to the Audi matrix that are more about blink patterns ,etc.. that I was thinking that route. From your point of view @Chaz26 i would agree with that-not that I was disagreeing earlier-just was curious why OP wanted them.

Yeah that’s the main reason for me. They can also pattern out and do ‘light shows’ but I just wanted them for the high beam function. Hopefully that will start to be more common here now they are legal. Most vehicles in Europe have them these days.

Yeah. I didn’t realize the U.S. was now allowing them to hence the reason I thought about it only from the patterning/entertainment point of view

Are you saying you want a bench seat that has a fold down arm-rest, or that you want something in the center of the seats as an arm rest? Scout has already confirmed they have two options for the front seats: (1) captains chairs with a center console and (2) bench seat with fold down center section. So you have a center section arm rest in both options. But I'm just curious about which option you will choose and why.
I would actually go bench only if there is the center fold down. I want the versatility. So it sounds like we can go bench and get the best of both worlds.

Well though out lights are kind of a must have - but not anything we will probably get a good hard review about. I was not an exceptionally early adopter to LED's - but honestly, the LED's on our 2018 Wranglers sucked. While it is entirely possible to get a good beam pattern out of LED's, matrix LED's need to be thought out. It is very easy to get too much spill from them if they are not properly paired with the correct reflectors and lenses. An LED is almost a point source light. A matrix of LED's generally is not. That causes light from the various individual LED elements to hit the reflector at different angles and to hit the lens at different angles - causing a lot of spill. While we owned that 2018, we constantly had people flashing their brights in our face trying to blind us because they thought we had our high beams on.

I have a love/hate relationship with the HID bulbs in my VW. The point source light is great. The solenoid controlled shade for the low beam is great. There is virtually no better way to light the road. The $1500/light replacement cost when they get damaged sucks. I think I have replaced 3 so far, and one more is currently out (but not 100% sure it is the light or the harness or the computer). My VW needs extended spa time in a shop that knows VW's.
---
FWIW the LED's in my 2017 F250 are great - and the LED's in the replacement Wrangler are far better than the ones in the Wrangler build 3 years earlier. Replacing a 3 year old vehicle with a near identical copy kind of sucked - but the new one had 3 features that made it worth it. Proximity Entry, better headlights, and about 2x the torque thanks to the diesel engine option.

All of this. Tesla apparently did a horrible job with the cut off of the Model Y. I can always tell when one is coming opposite direction. Worse yet is the retrofit light on the older USPS delivery vehicles. Those damn things could blind an airplane.

I love the headlights on my 16 Grand Cherokee. Combination of HID and LED. They have a great cut off and the combo seems to hit more of the light spectrum resulting in better visibility. I swapped the headlights on my 06 Wrangler to qaulity LEDs and they also have a great cut off, but even though they are really bright, they don't seem as useful as the GC.

Spare tire has been beat to death. Figured one more good kick won’t hurt anything. Would prefer it wasn’t mounted on the tail gate. Agree with the reason’s previously stated. But don’t want it mounted underneath either. Crawling in the mud to get the spare doesn’t sound like fun. The frunk is an option. But hate to lose the space.
The original Traveler had the spare mounted behind the wheel well in the cabin. Would a 33 tire fit? If so, mount the 33 inside and the 35 outside. On the original Traveler you lost very little usable space. And very easy to get too if needed.

I know this has been discussed to death and I’m team tire carrier all the way, just putting that out from the start. Like I would be really disappointed if my tire is not hanging on then back of my Scout.

At Nats I had the privilege of seeing both the concept and the last Traveler that was ever made.

Those tires are too big to fit in the frunk. 33 or 35. The frunk is big but not that big. My husband took some pictures that show the last Traveler and it does have the tire in the back, but it’s a much smaller tire. It’s a 235. I’m attaching some pictures. That show the tires that were on it and the spare in the back.

Not saying it can’t be done, but it just seems like an awfully large tire to put in the back of a vehicle.

I am going on a bad memory, or I have bought too many tires.
But thinking the Traveler in 1976 ran G or H78x15. Which would be under 29 inches. We just need to find 4 inches? The SM Traveler is a little larger
Thanks for the pictures. Like the old scouts. But the Traveler had a longer wheel base than Scout. Thus, did not look so crowded. Not that this matters, but seem to remember the spare actually mounted on the right side of the Traveler.

Now I have another question. I always have more questions. Would it pass crash testing with that tire in the back? I’m sure it would be secured somehow but if you were rear ended that would be a large heavy item that could be launched at the passengers.

With how long this thread is, this may have been said but I didn't find anything when searching. I'd like easily accessible and switchable data. By that I mean the ability to switch easily between battery percentage and miles of range (I just use percentage but I know some people like only miles) or both. Also, the ability to choose preferences for unit type when looking at efficiency, so either Wh/mi or mi/kWh rather than one or the other.

Also, sort of linked to the above, would be nice if you could change certain units of measurement, for example when we go to Canada I switch from miles to kilometers but in my car that also switches to Wh/km. It would be nice to have the speedo say kilometers but keep the general efficiency in miles since that's what I'm more used to and vice versa if anyone from Canada needs to switch to miles for the road speed limits but wants to keep everything else showing kilometers.
