Initial Production Release

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Opening up the perfect spot for the charge port!
I’m onboard for the front IF I’m charging at home which is likely 90% of the time but question for those with EV, front port and traveling at a charging stop. When you need your adapter in the middle of winter do you pull them to within reach when traveling or get out, open hatch/trunk, etc… then schlep back to the front to hook up then disconnect and schlep back to the rear and back to driver’s door to get in-unless you are heading back from a lunch break it just seems a bit -back and forth or do you store your adapters in the frunk for quick access. Just wondering what current EV owners do and what their process is-asked by a pre-purchase EV newbie

My DCFC adapter is in the cab. My L2 adapters are in the frunk.

Just think of it as getting your steps in… you gotta do 10,000/day remember

The amount of energy Ford customers put into tracking their new EV through the process is incredible. Some people here are going to become experts in how to read Union Pacific, BNSF, CSX, shipping manifests, etc. They’re going to learn which rails ship in which directions, what their regional hubs are, which trucking companies ship from which railyards, how long it takes to transfer from a railway to a truck, from a truck to a local delivery service, etc. I’ve fogotten all of that now, but it was a major obsession of mine when our Mustang was being built and shipped. I knew when it was on the dealer lot before the dealer did…
It was the same when the first orders for the TRX started. I remember getting a VIN Number, then a build sheet, and then the excitement of the window sticker, all before the truck hit the dealers lot. Then I had to wait for the dealer to ship it to me. It was 16 weeks from actual order placed until delivery.

Thanks for everyone sharing their real life experiences. Yes it’s a wait but you get your car.

7/26/21: Truck arrives at the dealership
8/3/21: Truck is delivered to me
Total time from order to delivery: 16 Weeks

I also tracked some of our Mustang’s major milestones.
Total of 18 weeks between first order and delivery.
At the time we had access to a transportation company website that allowed people to track the approximate location of a vehicle via VIN, if that vehicle was being transported by Jack Cooper Transportation. It seems to have been discontinued. :/

01 Oct 2021: Ordered
07 Oct 2021: Order accepted
13 Oct 2021: Order update (color)
22 Oct 2021: Order Confirmed
04 Nov 2021: Production scheduled (VIN provided)
10 Jan 2022: Production date (Window Sticker provided)
22 Jan 2022: Built email
26 Jan 2022: Shipped email
06 Feb 2022: Shipping update

I had a bmw 328 convertible built in 2012 and it was shipped to SC for the track delivery experience. I think that was about 10 weeks for build and shipping from Germany then about 2 weeks after until I was scheduled for the delivery experience. There is joy in having a vehicle built just for you but in this instance it will be 5 years give or take that I’ve been involved on here so it makes it much much harder to keep up the excitement. 😀

And I thought 16 weeks was a long time! :ROFLMAO:

When you run the vin on my truck, it’s the only TRX made to my specs for 2021 - 2024 when they discontinued the TRX. That makes it 1 of almost 55,000 trucks made.

That’s awesome. Mine was unique to my region until the jerks at the local dealership where I ordered it from saw it, then 2-1/2 months later there were literally 2 on their lot just like mine-grumble, grumble, dealer suck, grumble…..

We did a JLURD order. I wanted to test drive one first - that took 2 years. Tried to order immediately after the test drive - order que was locked. So we worked up the order, put down a reasonable deposit and waited. Think it was 3 months before the que was unlocked, we got our order in within 2hrs of the gue opening up. I think the que was open for 2 weeks, then closed again - don't think Jeep ever reopened it. But the wait once it was ordered seemed short after the wait to order it.

Funny thing - Jeep canceled the JLURD due to "lack of sales" - seems to me they did everything they could to prevent sales though. Not to mention the terrible wait times for the order windows that opened before we got our test drive.
