Please Scout don’t do this. Don’t make any features of the car a subscription. I don’t want to pay for heated seats or horsepower.

Subscriptions are for online food services and media on your TVAgreed.
We're losing functionality of the Fords when the trial subscriptions for their hands-free driving software expire. Have already not renewed the things we never used like their streaming audio and video services. If the hardware wasn't so tightly integrated into safety, I would get rid of it after the trials end.
No worries Jamie, I was just throwing it out there. I’m going for the Terra.I’m not sure what you are looking for me to say regarding Ford’s concept.
Rollover safety is the biggest issue that needs to be overcome with a taller truck platform that has a removable roof. Basically you would need to add a full roll cage or some type of mechanical pop-up device - especially if you are marketing it as an off-road capable vehicle. Add in that the two-door coupe market (especially with only two seats) is very soft at the moment, making a business case for this really difficult.
I think there is a creative way to achieve something modern like this with more flexibility and better suited to the market. Scout will produce more than just two vehicle models in the future.
Absolutely unnecessary BS. Money grubbers.![]()
Volkswagen Is Locking Horsepower Behind a Paywall
Volkswagen is offering ID.3 owners a subscription service that unlocks the car’s full horsepower capability as automakers attempt to nickel-and-dime buyers.www.motor1.com
If Scout does this I’m out!
Likely it is too early to panic about this, but on the other hand, if SM were to adopt this profit strategy over consumer relations, it would truly eff everything that they have done to gain consumer trust and strong consumer relationships. It just seems that would be totally opposed to their current direction.![]()

Looks good, but it would have to be a limited run vehicle, since safety regulations and requirements.Ford Bronco Roadster Concept Pays Tribute To OG U13 SUV

"Ford Bronco Roadster Concept won’t be making it to production, but it’s a cool nod to the model’s past, regardless."Looks good, but it would have to be a limited run vehicle, since safety regulations and requirements.
Okay! Thanks for that, I only read the headline."Ford Bronco Roadster Concept won’t be making it to production, but it’s a cool nod to the model’s past, regardless."
Shareholders love subscriptions. There is a small subset of features where I'd go "yeah okay, I can understand the subscription model here"... but most of the other stuff? Just roll it into the price of the car. Most people are financing it anyways which is really just a subscription to keep your car from getting repossessed.
Shareholders love subscriptions.
Agreed. Be honest-every manuf that has tried this ends up back pedaling and kills it. So in the mean time VW will piss off client base then waste PR money to get people back to trusting them.Likely it is too early to panic about this, but on the other hand, if SM were to adopt this profit strategy over consumer relations, it would truly eff everything that they have done to gain consumer trust and strong consumer relationships. Sheesh! I’d love to have those particular features available… and then NOT subscribe. I don’t care about any of them.Vehicle Feature Subscription models aim to create a recurring revenue stream for manufacturers.
These are just a few that auto manufactures are talking about and some implementing. How would you like to pay:
$18/month to activate heated seats remotely
$10/months to start your vehicle from a distance via an app.
$25/month To get access to enhanced driving assistance features.
$??/month To unlock automatic headlight adjustments, Auto High Beams.
Or an annual fee for traffic camera alerts, speed cameras & traffic conditions.
With increasing connectivity of vehicles. Automakers can now offer features that can be activated or deactivated remotely. This is all kinds of wrong!
Hopefully SM won’t do this.Agreed. Be honest-every manuf that has tried this ends up back pedaling and kills it. So in the mean time VW will piss off client base then waste PR money to get people back to trusting them.
