Vintage Scout Commercials/Ads

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Gotta love the yellow!

That’s a great idea with the test drive coupon!
I was so distracted by the yellow I didn’t even read it. That is a good idea! They need to have a table at Nationals with someone there ready to take reservations and if you put in a reservation or have one already you get a special sticker or reusable bag or something.

Oh this is a good idea. I’m putting this in the nationals thread too

Yes! Put it in that thread.

Yup. The faux wood grain vinyl stripes.
OK, I got some and this is probably the only place this will be appreciated.

In 1977, I was 8 and my dad bought a brand new SSII - being my dad he didn't spend money unless he had to, so it had the mighty in-line 4 and an AM radio, but otherwise was perfect. This was the car I learned to drive in (when I was 12 so I could haul firewood after school - long clutch throw for a kid), the car where I learned how to change the oil, install cheap stereos, tried to teach myself bondo when the rear fenders rusted through in the '80's... Pretty much, except for it's stunning lack of power, a perfect car.

It came with two "gifts with purchase", a Scout magazine and a Scout belt buckle.

I still have it. The magazine, not the SSII. Pretty worn out, I read this thing cover to cover hundreds of times as a kid (and a couple times since then), 112 pages of Scout Marketing gold wrapped up in a 1970's time capsule.

Here's the cover

Check out these great articles! Ever wondered how does James Caan use his Scout, on page 108 you can find out!

Here's my favorite ad: Owning isn't a spectator sport!
Owning .jpg

and some educational articles - "if you're one of those guys or gals who haven't picked up a 4X4, maybe this book can help...."
So you want.jpg

Even women can get into the action, doing 4x4 things like washing the car, looking pretty or getting stuff out of the cooler! "Maybe its womens' lib, maybe it's not. You've got to understand that there are a bunch of 'em who are bustin' at the seams to get out and do something!"

Still one of my favorites, it sits on the shelf right next to my copies of Overland Journal and Adventure Rider (I grew up with magazines, and still enjoy some of the few remaining good ones)

And I also still have the belt buckle, I occasionally wear it for special occasions..

Thanks for sharing! Well obviously we need to see a picture of the belt buckle. 😹

This is really cool! I still think it would be awesome to recreate these ads with the new vehicles. Thank you for sharing!
