Real world EREV/PHEV Towing, Offroad, and Range Testing

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
After watching that last video, I am leaning heavily towards the BEVs and changing my Harvester reservation.

Unless Scout uses at least a 2.0l Turbo and 3/4 ton axles on Harvester models, the real world experience and towing/payload shortcomings with Harvester probably just arent for me.

I it seems I would be better off spending the price of the Harvester option on a solar generator setup.

No worries mate.
Just FYI you don’t have to change your reservation. Just leave it and when you actually can place your order you can pick any of them. Terra or Traveler, BEV OR EREV. you may already know that but just in case you don’t. We aren’t locked in until we place our order.

Unless there’s something special about the beam axles being used, the Scout isn’t likely to have true torque vectoring, which requires selective power to each wheel, best accomplished via four-motor configurations. While I don’t consider it truly torque vectoring if it doesn’t have a four-motor setup, it seems the industry disagrees with me and thinks you can get some kinds of torque vectoring even with two motors.

I also agree (as I’ve been saying), that a solar generator setup is likely to be the better option for overlanding.

I reserved a Traveler BEV but later added the Harvester. Looking at the res now, it's still the same number I had from before the change so I don't think it makes a difference if you change.

@Jamie@ScoutMotors can you confirm we don't lose our place in line if we switch between BEV and Harvester? My other concern is if BEV and Harvester vehicles have different launch dates then BEV and Harvester reservations have two separate lines. If that's the case then we should keep our reservations up to date to avoid having to wait longer for Harvester because that's what the reservation says when we're actually going to order BEV, for example. My assumption is choice doesn't matter, it was simply a way for Scout to judge interest, however better to know now than later.
