Optional Third Row

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
While I see 3rd row vehicles daily - honestly, family sizes are shrinking. What percentage of families have 4 or more kids anymore. We had 5 kids, so we were the exception. It is why we got rid of a 2 row Tahoe and got a minivan. Now that 2 kids are gone, we need cargo space a LOT more than the 7th and 8th seats.

Sure, Scout should eventually produce one - put if you look at the number of posts from members who are afraid it is too large already, I don't think it is a good first or even second step. 2 rows full size, then mid sized, then maybe extended for 3rd row.

I totally agree with this - yet I feel that if Scout could have made it a bit more narrow and shorter with all the same capabilities they would have. Maybe with newer technology in a couple more years that will happen…

The only benefit to going 3-row first is that 90% of what's already developed can be reused. Hopefully they're already working on the design for a smaller vehicle though. Knowing how popular the Harvester is now though, I suspect they'll be getting very creative with packaging on a baby Scout.

Me too. I'm actually surprised that SM might be thinking of a three row. There's already a flooded market out there for kid-haulers. Would people was an off-road focused one? I don't know. I guess if they went Mountain Side trim version probably.

My wife has a three-row SUV and we have legitimately never folded it up. It's always folded down for the extra cargo space. Only have one child and a dog (may he rest in peace) we never needed it. I don't even know how kids would fit back there. They'd have to be small enough but then they would need a booster and there goes the savings on space from being small.

There’s an interview with Scott, I don’t remember which one, and he talks about a 3-row being next. Never had one, don’t need one.
