Towable Behind an RV and 3rd Row Seats

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I know the topic of making it flat towable behind a motorhome has already been discussed, please DO make that possible, with a true four wheel neutral, and would suggest having a configuration option available to have the wiring for brake lights, turns signals, etc..., and auxiliary braking, preferably pneumatic in my case for a motorhome with air brakes, available from the factory. In fact, have an option to purchase a towbar from the factory as well, maybe work with Stowmaster or Blue-ox. In that light, also please make it possible for the vehicle to charge its batteries while being towed so that your batteries will be full when you get to your destination each day.

Meanwhile, regarding possible third row seating, if a third row could be included, but fold flat in place, like the Honda Pilot, that would be great. Wouldn't have to be full-size seats, they're more of a there when you need them kind of thing. Also, having them always there, but folded flat out of the way makes them actually usable when you happen to need them. Removable full-size seats are just not worth consideration, and when you need them, you don't have them.

Those are my suggestions, hope you consider them, and if so, then I would look forward to changing out my Wrangler for a Scout.

Welcome to the community. Scott the CEO has discussed a potential 3 row being next. The Traveler is a little bit wider than the Pilot but it’s about 10 inches shorter. Having seen it in person I just don’t see being able to fit a 3rd row in there and have it be comfortable or big enough for an adult. I really think it needs to be the next iteration, a modern version of the Travelall so to speak.

I don’t tow, but I sure do hope all of you get what you want in that regard.

Welcome again.

We have a Honda pilot and I’ve seen the Traveler twice. Third row seats would be basically useless. As @cyure noted the 10” less length would make them barely useable for a very small child. I’ve been in our third row once when we had my in-laws and that was horrible in rear of pilot. Unfortunately I think Scout would lose money offering that option but to repeat it’s been said multiple times that the next model out from SM will be a 3-row-and presumably be called the Travelall. Then likely a smaller pick up and hopefully a smaller lifestyle SUV like Jeep/Bronco then a bunch of us have said a Metro inspired CUV/micro utility van would be an awesome option. But nothing has been carved in stone

Third row seating is nice when you need it, but honestly I don't really want the Traveler to be long enough for it to be useful. I also don't want to waste the space of a folding third row.

I don't know how much I would be willing to spend to flat tow - but it is a very nice feature to have when you need it. Flat towing a vehicle the weight of the Scout will have a somewhat limited appeal - but I know I flat tow my Jeep occasionally and love the ability to do that - and I don't even have an RV.
